Thoughts on Panasonic's Answer to the FX1/Z1U
... but anyway we can talk for ever, it won't change the fact that here people seems to give more importance to the pixel level than what people think of your final product, because I guess that we are trying to produce video or film of some sort here. So all of you, ask yourselves if the person that watch your movie will really see all this little details you are fighting for? Ask someone with an untrained eye to wacth what you have done and comment on it.....After what I've seen and heard, I'm now gonna give a go to the FX1E....
But that IMHO does not mean that we should stop looking for better tools, either.

BTW good luck with your FX1 :)

Right on Dremmwel. Have fun with your new cam. You'll enjoy it. Of course other HD accessories will soon follow... :)

If you can get a chance to see some stuff on an HD set if you don't have one, it's worth it... it really does record incredible footage... I went out an got an HD set the next day... couldn't help myself... it's hard to stop when your brain gets into spend mode. ;D Just got back from shooting some stuff in Dominican. Went a little tourist crazy and got tonnes of "stock footage" just incase. The locals of course love to point and wave cause Canadians stand out there like a sore thumb... got some good shots that way though. :) I still can't believe my eyes when I watch it on my sub par HD set. After 3 months, the footage looks still looks very surreal...

Enjoy.

Absolutely definitely if you go with an FX1/Z1, get an HD set, preferably one that displays 1080i native. The quality jump is huge when viewing that camera on a good 1080i display!

DREMMWEL thanx for the freaking sanity. I'm so sick of the arguments. It doesn't affect me b/c I saw the same general argument 10 years ago about analog vs digital audio recording. I was one who opted for inexpensive digital home recording on ADATs. YOU are right, it's about the final product. I've watched great movies shot on video tape. It's about telling a story well.
