THOR The Movie

To me that trailer looks like the teen equivalent to THIS.

In other words extremely generic, pre-chewed, non-threatening, mainstream McComicbook Movie with fries.

What's sad about those films is that they always seem to focus more on "This Looks Cool" than "This Triggers Emotions".

To put things in perspective, I would have LOVED for the Thor movie and trailer to be a cross between this:

Seems like increasingly, efforts toward emotional impact are made more via overwhelming sensory blitz rather than character or story.

I don't know what the potential neurological effects of that might be, but I suspect they aren't likely to be good.

I thought it would be a lot worse judging from the still images.

There have been some comic book movies that have been guilty of this for sure, actually most of them. Sometimes I do enjoy 90 minutes of amazing shots and super slo-mo a$$ kicking.

Though I do dig the whole one universe aspect they're building up, this looks pretty much generic and goofy in that IronMan kind of way.

I agree with you guys above. Seems more and more of these films aim at inspiring one emotion: "AWESOME!"

Snooze.

It looks much better than I thought it would. I never really understood the appeal of Thor as a comic book character.

And you kind of have to ask yourself why Destroyer inspires about a million times less dread than Javier Bardeem conjured up with little more than a bad 70's haircut...

If you'd have said 300, I'd have agreed.

But the story that can be pulled from HULK is just too damn tragic and dramatic. Not even the TV show realized the full potential of that.
I think the first act of the Edward Norton version was really good though.

LOL. Good point. I have no Idea who or what Destroyer is but Anton Sigur was one bad mo-fo and could probably kick Destoyer's a$$.

I don't know what Destroyer is either.

Btw, what's with the THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL remake footage at the end of the Thor trailer?

Honestly, I only wanted him to turn green and destroy stuff.

But I have to agree that the first act was good.

I just hope they don't make another one. They can't seem to get it right.

But I like Michael Bay movies so i'm not the one to talk to about emotional connections.

I like some of Bay's stuff. Armageddon is nice.
The guy's still the best at what he does, even if that happens to be shooting vehicles in the desert under the setting sun and blowing stuff up to rock music.
And when it comes to action movies there are a ton of people worse than him when it comes to characters and drama. People like Wiseman, WS Anderson, Leterrier and Harlin will probably never be as good as Bay is.

But Bay will never be James Cameron.

Great point!
