My in-laws are in town for Thanksgiving. I took my bro-in-law Jamie to one of my best friends to get his first tattoo. Here's a couple of short clips.

"Believe" We made a ton of Cher jokes :)

Haha cool documenting...amusing about not knowing how to spell "Believe". Pretty girl in the second video and pretty nicely done final product by the tattoo artist.

That's the beauty of DSLRs...take 'em anywhere!

We always have a good time hanging out at Gerardo's tattoo shop. I'm the only one without a tat :( I'm a p***y, the thought of needles pricking my skin multiple times a second just does not appeal to me.

...but at least the pain is only temporary.

Having a word written down one's side in large letters lasts a lifetime. I'll probably cop a lot of flack for saying so but I cannot for the life of me figure out how people can do such a thing to themselves.

What's he believe in anyway? God? Tatoos? Buy a T-shirt with "believe" on it. If he then loses his faith he can get a new T-shirt with a new message.

Many might say that it's art and it's cool.

Well I like my art on canvas, on the screen, or on any other media rather than my precious skin. Fashions change and I rekon your BIL might one day regret his actions and you will be cheering that you were such a p***y.

Oh well at least he spelt it right and who know's maybe he'll get a kick out of seeing it every day of his life even if it is upsidedown (or backwards in a mirror) to him.

Buddy, relax haha. Who cares what he believes in? It's not on YOUR skin, is it? It's simple text that can be interpreted differently at different stages in his life. I have a tattoo that you might look at and say it's absolutely crazy and that I was young and naive when I got it and will regret it, however as you prefer your art on canvas and other mediums, people prefer art on their skin.

It's personal preference and it means something to them - whether you like it or not. Some people get tattoos for fads and the like, but I'm talking about those who get tattoos for reasons or get beautiful artwork put on. You can knock it for yourself, but don't do it for others. You simply can't because you don't know them.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, nothing to say of the footage?

I have to agree with ya.
Although I do want to get a tattoo of myself...only taller.

Buddy, relax haha.
Hi Keegan.....I'm fairly relaxed, my post was meant a bit tongue in cheek, but my abilities to express myself in this medium suck just like my film making in general.

I realise that people love tatoos but I will never understand the sentiment of drawing something permanent on yourself other than for maybe long held cultural beliefs like the Maoris for example. We'll just have to disagree on that one.

I don't know where I was ever really knocking him just because I said I can't understand it. I'd be happy to hear what motivates people to do such a things that I find I could never do.

As my last statement in my previous post suggests I know there's a chance this lad is happy with his and will remain so for the entirety of his life, time will tell.

Out of curiosity, nothing to say of the footage?

Ooops....maybe I've railroaded this thread a little but after looking at the actual Tatooing vid my overiding thought was "how could he do that?" Hey it's my honest reaction and I don't mind saying so.

I had no interest in any technical matters once I saw that on his side. At least it goes to show that subject matter is the overiding aspect in getting a reaction from viewers. My initial visit here was because I was interested in seeing 7D footage but that all went out the window when I saw the subject matter.

BTW you know the word "BELIEVE" also contains the word "LIE"

Well my brother in-law is about to turn 21 in 2 days and he's on probation and has to attend AA meetings 3 times a week, so if this is something he uses to keep him self from getting **** faced drunk on Dec 2nd I'm proud of him.
I don't drink or smoke or anything of the sort and never been to jail, my biggest vices are food and electronics, so honestly it's hard for me to really understand what he is struggling with. Never the less I can only imagine it is difficult and love to see him express his youthfull angst in more creative ways.

Well…it’s still much better than getting your significant other’s name (and/or image) tattooed for everyone to see. Only to end up catching them cheating on you with your best friend (or something like that) leaving you with the painful and embarrassing option of “removal.”

….not that I’m speaking from personal experience….

I guess I had a knee-jerk reaction to your post. I misinterpreted some of it as well. I like that "LIE" in "BELIEVE". Same kind of thing with 8 letters in "I love you" and in "Bullsh!t"
