GH4 This Should Make Lots of Canon Lens Owners Happy...

I wonder if Metabones can make a Micro Four Thirds to Micro Four Thirds speed booster for people that already have a collection of Lumix lenses?

Micro 4/3 lenses are designed to only cover a Micro 4/3 sensor, so a SpeedBooster adapter is not possible. ( SpeedBoosters are used with lenses designed for the much larger FF 35mm format )

any of you tech geek/gods know if my 10-22mm Canon EF-"S" would fit in this? Seems like the S part makes it not fit other adapters I have. Thoughts?

So, now I have the decision of selling my Nikon Speedbooster and getting Sigma to convert my 18-35mm f/1.8 Nikon lens to Canon or stick with Nikon. Hmm...

EDIT: Oh also... I wonder if this is the 'Big Surprise' Panasonic was talking about.

No tech gods needed :)

From the article: "It turns the GH4′s 2x crop sensor into a 1.5x crop APS-C equivalent, making full use of third party EF APS-C lenses from Sigma and Tokina. Canon APS-C lenses are EF-S mount so won’t work."

By the way, I don't quite understand this one... The cameras all have an EF mount as far as I know, and EF-S lenses just use a smaller imaging circle. Am I wrong about this?

PAID IN FULL.

I've been waiting for this since my AF-100 days. Now I get a Speed Booster too. This is the best news a C100 GH4 owner can get!

Thank you Metabones!!!!

If I buy this then I can connect Sigma 18-35mm , without using any additional adapters, correct?
If its an EF mount then yes.

Personally I have Nikon mount glass and a Nikon SB. I will hold out till they work out any bugs. Just look at what version the EF-Emount SB is and there are still issues.

It would be nice to have in the kit to share glass with a few guys I occasionally work with and to mount my m42 russian lenses to a SB but I'm in no hurry to be an early adopter.

That said I are really happy that metabones finally did something about the EF-M43 gap.

Ah, I see now:
"The EF-S standard is locked down by Canon and cannot be used by third parties, plus the rear of most EF-S lenses sticks out too far making them physically incompatible with the Speed Booster adapter."

KAAANON!!!!!!

It is I guess.

So yeah, good news.

I don't think you would have any issues with it fitting, although they say that EF-S lenses protrude too much so the rear of the lens might hit the glass inside the speedbooster, the main issue is that they cannot control the lens.

Same boat, same thought but only for a moment... I'd rather have the clickless infinite mechanical manual aperture via the Nikon adapter than the electronics-dependent Canon iteration. If the Sigma had stabilization, I'd reconsider.

That is a very good point. I didn't consider giving up the clickless aperture but you are correct.

I'd prefer lens makers to just make proper, affordable video glass.

1. Constant 2.8 or better at ALL focal lengths.
2. De-clicked iris next to the lens mount, rotating counter-clockwise to open the iris.
3. Inner focus and zoom, no lens barreling or rotation.
