The point actually isn't the particular application, but the methodology which is using key words or phrases embedded in the closed captioning to execute instructions to the TV. That has far wider implications. Kind of like when ICs were unveiled to the electronics industry in the late 50's. They were almosted completely rejected by people who should have known better, but who just couldn't see what use could be made of a tiny little integrated circuit.
