Thinking to buy HMC150 as second cam to HPX170 ? Any experiences? Broadcast quality?

Anybody own both of these and is cutting footage together? I would appreciate knowing your thoughts on combining the two. Colour issues? Resolution compatibility? Codec combination on the timeline? (need for a much speedier CPU than DVCProHD is understood). Anything else?? I will need to order the camera pretty soon, and economics are starting to point to the 150 instead of another 170, but don't want to mess up with the combination! Also I hope to sell product for broadcast - will AVCHD be okay? Thanks for your 2 cents.

I've intercut seemlessly with the 170 and 200a as well as original HVX. There's relatively no quality difference. You might want to boost the color just at touch... and get the scene files as similar. You'll be very happy with the combo. I personally never pulled the plug on the 170 after having both the 200 and the 150 for a month. The 200 went up for sale and another 150 is on the way.

Thanks to all. Justyn thanks especially for your experiences - exactly what I hoped. Now have to figure best resolution to suit both cam's for inter-cutting. Also I had forgotten the different scene files story, but that should be okay to sort out, as you suggest. Together with so many threads comparing the two, and with Barry's recent colour comments, I have enough confidence now to go the 150 route. (It was going to be another 170 but Oz$ is in the toilet just now!) Thanks, Bowen

It'll be a great compliment and I wouldn't be surprised if your 150 doesn't get used more than you though.. When you have to shoot and shoot and don't have time to offload and or have a crew member to do it.. then the 150 really shines. It's also quite light compared to the 200 series.. and comperable to the 170. I think the 170 is a bit heavier.. but probably not that much.

When you get them.. would be great for you to share your findings in both the 170 and the 150 forum.. some footie would be great.

cheers
