Hey,
I've been thinking about this a lot. What are the disadvantages to recording in 60p instead of 24p? More compression?
Even if I'm going to distribute in 24p (or even 60i for SD-DVD), it seems to me like the more information I can record, the better. This also gives me the option to go slow-mo for any surprise action shots.
I guess what I'm really asking, is if there is a technical reason that "native" 24p would look better than 60p converted to 24p. I don't understand the 2:3:3:2 and 3:2 pulldown methods and am still looking for a good reference on those.
I would also try it myself, but my computer doesn't playback footage smoothly all of the time anyway, and I wouldn't trust my eye just yet to catch little details I might be missing.
So what do you think? As long as I don't need the added resolution of 1080, is there any reason not to leave the camera in 720/60p all the time?
Thanks
