In my experience today, I shot several scenes today (yes, I am my own actor in my film) with a piece of GAFF TAPE on the back of my pants!!!!!!!!!

I was downloading my footage and I thought... what the (bleep) is that? Yep! gaff tape.

Rule number 1: That gaff tape was an artistic choice on the part fo the director. Say it. Stick by it, and never, ever admit that it wasn't. Just let them wonder what it could mean. And because they can't figure out what it means, they will assume you are some kind of genius. :)

Thanks, I needed that laugh!

I am thinking that the gaff tape will "stick around" in the final cut. At least it was black and I have on dark green Carhartt pants. Something to look for. Maybe I'll do a contest like Black Angel's. "Name the shot inwhich a piece of gaff tape was in frame." Better yet... "Name the shot that NO gaff tape was in the shot!"

LOL!!!!

One funny thing happened with us during our last day of shooting...well talk about amateurism...so there we are preping up....seting up the place, and Miss X is doing Stratos' makeup....so at one point she's doing his eyes and all...and we re checking it....and say how nice it shows....then I give him the sunglasses he's supposed to be wearing during all the scenes....

you see?

dudes this looks amazing. love the CC on the graveyard scene and the improvised crane.

on my watch list

that blood on the ceiling is gross.
You should see the walls and floor after shooting that!

I waited until my wife went to bed to shoot it so I could have it all cleaned up before she saw it!

I gave her some lame excuse about having to shoot it at night because of the lighting.... but as you can oblivously see, daytime light would not make a bit of difference!

I have finally found my way to your thread. I was going alphabetically and really wanted to skip ahead to see yours, but am a little anal retentive and told myself no, one at a time...

Thanks for all the great comments in my thread and elsewhere on the forum. It looks like you're having a lot of fun working on your movie. Will you be posting any more stills before the movie itself comes up? I'd be excited to see them.

Did you figure out the fiona apple reference yet? That video was what Joe (my DP) was thinking of when he shot my movie, I think. You can probably download the music video on youtube or something.

Thanks Lingothree for visiting and your comments.

I am having fun. A little frustrating at times but fun, none the less.

I would like to post more stills. A lot of what I've shot over the past couple of days (besides the bleeding ceiling) are boring in themselves. When put in context, they are necessary and work but out of context.... boring. Like a door shot or a phone shot.

I will be shooting more basement scenes and expect to be able to post stills from that.

And NO! I haven't been able to put together the Fiona Apple reference yet! I've looked at a few of her videos but not the one that compares to my lighting!

Do you know the title of that video?

Thanks again!

I am REALLY looking forward to seeing all of the films in this fest. I am popping corn right now to have enough for all of these flicks!

I think it is called Criminal...? The one that goes "I've been a bad, bad girl..." and she is writhing around in her skivvies with a bunch of other half naked waifs.

Basically it looks like low budget 70s porn or something. If I remember correctly, it's shot with really directional lighting coming from the camera, like a spotlight. Maybe conrad_johnson can elaborate since I think he said it was the look he was going for when shooting my movie. It's a pretty cool look. So I don't mean to disparage it by saying it looks like "low budget 70s porn."

LOL! I was thinking, "Oh, great! My shot looks like a low budget 70's porn flick?"

But actually, it may not be that far off.... except for the porn stuff. (At least in the 6 minute version!)

Thanks for the tip on the video. I will follow that up!

Yeah, I am happy with some of my basement footage. And ghetto is getting me by!

:)
I meant ghetto by the universal ladder being used for everything.
The basement still doesn't look ghetto at all.
