Hello there,

I want to present you our first short movie without any dialogue. It lenghts 8 minutes and was shot during 3 days in december 2004. We finish the post-production in the end of april 2005.

This is a french short movie, but without dialogue, so we think that is easy to understand without any subs.

This short was shot with a DVcamcorder Sony DSR-570.

i would love to see it, but the file size are to big, can you get it to about 30mb? (sorensen squeeze 4).

Looks great! Really nice work...

Some shots (those at the end in the park especialy) were amazing! + the opening sequence was great!

could you tell me: was it a school project or an independent movie? And if I may: How much did it cost? :)

hey, that guy looks like a young Alan Rickman!

Your short looked awesome. Nice photography, especially near the end there.

yes, amazing work, and the opening credits and the tracking of the outside scene to the greenscreens in the windows was especially impressive...

Very enjoyable and well worth the Download and you succeded in telling the story with visuals. I wish the 'Park Bench' was further removed from where it was. It felt to immediate and not 'far enough away' for me. My only subjection.

Well done.

Pas mal, pas mal. Reminds me of my friends movie, except the girl is not on a bench but on a bus, and it was silent also.

Amazing cinematography and story telling

I loved it... probably some of the most film like images I've seen from a DV camera

good job!

he does look like young alan rickman. but just in that shot though.
This is unbelievable work. are those true dollying shots in and out of the window? or is it composite?

this short had such great jump cuts. great continuity as well.

Beautifully shot and a nice, slow story that just permeated me...

I especially loved the first shot of the receding trees as he tries to give her the flower....

A real visual treat.

Thanks for sharing.

These are only guesses but i'll try:

dossier urbanismes - some town architectural plans

Arretez de rêver - something with dreaming... maybe "stop dreaming"

//you should really wait for an authors answer :)

Thanks and answers !

Thanks and answers !

Thank you everybody for your enthousiasm !

I'm very sorry because I'm not online as much as I want, so I reply in late...

First, I hope that anyone could understand the short movie...

So I'll try to answer now !

This is an independent movie. But the directors (my friend and I) are from a french audiovisual school (that we end in june 2004).

You can ! It cost about 950 Euros (including food, the rent of the DSR, transport, etc...).

No SFX & compositing were used in doing those sequences. It was a real set, with a home-made dolly.

can you please translate what was written on the paper
So, here are the translations :

L'Inconnue du Banc Public : The Unknown Girl of the Public Bench / The (female) Stranger on the Park Bench
Arretez de rever! - Stop dreaming!
Projet / dossier urbanismes / Urgent - Urgent Folder about urbanism project.

The windows were really blown out at the beginning with the longer shots and then less blown out later, was that done on purpose or just different days/times of shooting and therefor you got some friendlier lighting outside?

I liked the story and the sequence where he follows her outdoors was very well done. The opening titles were great, good job. Congrats!

thanks for an answer Arakneed!
//I watched it third time... you really did a great job with compositing! And the shot you put in your first post is just amazing!

//man... I was really close with the translation :)

It was nice, didn't linger around too long. IMO, I would cut it down slightly, but I am impatient!

I thought the change in colour was slightly distracting, but really liked the look towards the end of the film.

The titles also looked very professional, which helps a lot.

My main critisim would be that I didn't quite understand the lead character's feeling for the woman. Whether he just saw her on the bench and dreamt about it, or if there was some other connection. That isn't quite what I mean, it is hard too describe.

I also found the jumps through time were a little awkard. Maybe a different transition could help here...?

I am just trying to think of possible improvements, but it is quite hard.
