A most excellent idea! let us know when you get a website up (assuming I didn't miss the link already)!

I like the virus idea but it has been used extensively already. You could really get creative in this respect and come up with something entirely new. Might be worth pondering at least :).

I'll consider pondering that Shaw. One thing I want to stick to intially is NOT KNOWING ANYTHING about the epedemic. As 'we' would be in the situation. I am kind of intrigued by the VIRUS aspect as is overused, I know, but in the ebola sense or massive bio-hazard realm.

I envision people prior to all hell breaking loose using dust masks like you see internationally with the 'bird' virus.

As much as I love Dead Nation I would say come up with something along the same lines that isnt already being used. Something where you can snatch up the .com without having to abbreviate, etc.

Sounds like a great plan John...can't wait for the first installment. :)

I have been obsessed w/ making a zombie film since I saw the original Dawn of the Dead when I was 13. I think the best zombie films are ones that portray it in a realistic sense.

Musts for realism:

Slow walking dead
Head shots kill
bites spread "disease"
world chaos and protagonists hold up somewhere

I'm in on this one..

I'm not skilled enough to make an installment but I'd be more than happy to come up there and dress up like a zombie and chase people around. Need a zombie? :D

I checked out deadnation,com and its owned by some swedish game clan or something. There is nada on their site and it looks like they just 'updated' for one more year.

Probally look the same way in a year >:(

As for the second species of dead. maybe a small number of the undead are affected differently by the [virus/space worms/creepy-crawlies]. They're harder to kill, they're smarter and more cunning. they also have the ability to lead the other undead, perhaps even telepathically. it turns out that in these creatures' DNA lies a rare genetic sequence, which could hold the key to saving humanity.

I'm starting to lean on undeadnation.com

I was thinking of the second species being more akin to the 'vampire undead'. Smarter. Yes. But still animal in instinct and behaivor.

I want the ZOMBIE UNDEAD to be classic undead.

There is no saving humanity in my story. This is the end. Raising questions of religion, survival, cure...

I'm doing some research on virus and contagious diseses and the % of persons that seemingly are immune to such disease. There was a doctor in Africa that treated one of the first known cases of Ebola and did not get infected even though blood was literally barged into his eyes and mouth and being in close proximity to the victim. Interesting stuff.

Keep spinning the wheels though; we need to figure out alot of details for this world to exist.
