GH2 THE ULTIMATE FAST WIDE SHARP and CHEAP LENS FOR GH2 !!!!!!!!

OK guys, so I got Pentax 6mm and it doesn't fit my c mount->m4/3 adapter (of course).

Here's the question (maybe a silly one): isn't it easier, better and more safe to modify the adapter a bit instead of the lens itself?

thanks!

you have to modify more than the adaptor depth

hmm, I have an adapter I got with slr magic's 26mm toy lens. It has an outer groove which lets the pentax screw in a bit. I can use the lens with my GH2 but cannot focus. Therefore I though that extending the inner diameter of the adapter will allow for pentax to sit nicely in it.

To get a fast wide angle in the GH1 and GH2 you can use a Raynox 6600 0.66x converter.

The tip is to put a UV filter between the camera lens and the Raynox, this will increase a little the distance between the Raynox and the camera lens to improve the image quality.
The corners / edges get very better avoiding blur/soft/distorntions in the corner/edge.

I did a test with the sigma 20mm 1.8 + 82-52mm step down converter ring + UV filter + Raynox 6600 and I got good results.
This Sigma lens is a 40mm in m43 and it becames about a 27mm f1.8 with the raynox attatched.

I believe you can use the Raynox 6600 with the kit lenses and with the 14mm 2.5 and 20mm 1.7, also with the manual focus fast vintage lenses, it deserves a try.

The secret is to put the UV filter between the lenses, without it the corner/edges get blurred and distorted.
You can remove the glass from the filter and use just the filter ring as a spacer ring.

I got the pentax 6mm 1.2 from ebay for 31 usd. I do not have a gh1 or gh2 or any m43 camera, but I hope i can get one someday...
I did a reserach in ebay for a c-mount adapter and I found one with 37.2mm inner diameter. I disassembled the rear c-mount from the lens and the it's inner diameter is something about 36mm so I am almost sure I can get it machined to fit the 37.2mm adapter and get the infinite focus.

I disassembled the rear mount and I found:
The inner diameter is 36mm
The outer diameter is 40.5mm
to fit the ebay c-mount adapter need to machine the outer diameter to 37mm at the rear side after the screws holes
and probably need to machine the outer diameter surrounding the screws holes to 39mm

Or you can simply order the Lumix 14mm f2.5 (which is down to $256 or less - $214 from the amazon link below) and get a superbly sharp, clean rendering lens on which all features of the GH2 work. I have one and have used it with very good results in marginal lighting situations where I also needed "wide" coverage.

Where did you have it modified? What does the modification consist of? I haven't been able to find information about this anywhere. Some mention of honing down something, is all. Does that mean the the lens has to be brought closer to the sensor to achieve infinity focus?

It has been modified in a local photograph repair shop... The rear barrel is modified, limed, to be closer to the sensor. Here is a link to a homemade mod, but do it if only you are able to :)
