I'm not familiar with cheap Sony glass but this G series zoom seems fairly priced to me for a professional lens.
I could make a much easier financial case for owning the Zeiss 21-100 than this Sony. The Zeiss would probably see me into retirement and work on every camera I owned going forward not to mention the image looks stunning and there will be a healthy resale value to it even 10 years away. Even if the Sony produces an equivalent image (which is highly unlikely) you're stuck with E Mount cameras and it'll be dead in 3 years of regular use and if it's not dead it'll be worthless for resale.
It's just a high price compared to a crappy £400 consumer lens, which it isn't.
lets see the performance first before we s*%t on it.
the Smooth Motion Optics (SMO) interests me.![]()
Clearly, it was the same person that chose the music in that video above. As opposed to the "lumpy motion Optics ".. is some one in Tokyo really get paid for this .. they could just get an English teacher off the street to come up with something better..

Haven't seen any info anywhere about focus-by-wire or an actual focus ring.......
Very interested in it, but if it is focus-by-wire I'll have zero interest
