Hello,
My buddy is thinking about purchasing this camera but really doesn't know a lot about the specifics. I'm pretty familiar with cameras, but am completely ignorant when it comes to HDV.
He's going to be travelling to India for a few months and will be documenting his mission efforts there. I know he's got a Mac Book, not sure if it's a Pro or not, and I think he only has iMovie, although he could have Final Cut. He has an external 300GB HD that he'll also be bringing with him.
His budget is right around $3000. Is the A1 the right camera for him? He's leaning towards it, but I think only because it's HD and within his price range.
Like I said I'm unfamiliar with HDV. Is it still as much of a pain to edit as when it first came out? I've seen 30p and 24p thrown around in this forum, but doesn't HDV shoot in GOPs? How does that work?
Any help with this would be awesome, based on what little I know about this camera and his equipment, I would almost think he'd be better off with the DVX, but again, I have no clue what the world of HDV is like now. Thanks ahead of time for your help!
