"The Q" Shooting Begins

After months and months of watching other folks get their projects moving here on the forums, I am happy to post some work I started on my own. Check out a few stills after our first day of shooting. The idea in the 2nd & 3rd shots was to take a place normally overflowing with people, and make it look empty. We still have a long way to go, but the first step is worth something. I hope to have many updates in the near future.

whoa dude! i used to live in west point when i was little...biddle loop...near the hospital. i grew up near there...washingtonville/monroe...anyway...

grabs look good. i like the high shot looking down...and the shot of him coming too us. they look a bit grainy though? like the gain is turned up...would like to see these color corrected too..

good luck with the shooting! keep us posted!

Rich my man,

they look great which is what I'd expect from you. I know people hate hear that sometimes because it takes away from your glory, but after the Buckfast video you set the bar high for yourself which is great.

I can't wait to see what you've done. Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,

Jason

Rich,

Upon looking over the stills again I had to wonder if you did some compositing on these? The two wide shots look so grand that they can't be live :)....then again what do I know.

Later,

J.

Jason- for some reason you have me mistaken for someone else...i have nothing to do with this post...Largo is the guy who posted this..not me...i just commented on tthe stills he posted...

Seems to be a lateral focus issue on all these to my eye.

Maybe that is what you intended but it doesnt work if you are trying to take the viewers eye to the subject ( person).

Well, we were lucky enough to actually get those areas empty for a while. The whole academy is on Spring Leave, but we made our way back and did a bit of shooting. We hope that when the other cadets see those scenes they will appreciate the near-impossibility of getting those areas empty.

As for the focus, I suppose I may just have a lousy eye for focus. Alternatively, a couple of those stills were taken from scenes with pretty fast motion. I'll definately put some more effort into that though, thanks fo the input.

We shot just a few more pieces of scenes today. I don't have an opportunity to post stills right now, but I will next week.
