yeah. Would be cool if the price goes down. Yeah the macs look cool, but still am not convinced that a 2.7ghz cpu should cost 3x more than a 3.8ghz Intel.

I agree, Jarred . . . Microsoft Photodraw ROCKS! Microsoft Photodraw is one of the most underrated apps ever. Isn't it great? I own Adobe Illustrator CS, but Photodraw can't be beat for simple, quick things.Jarred Land said:yeah.. the only thing I am missing is my Microsoft Photodraw version 1999. Just because of that stupid program, i still gotta have the PC on standby.
Pooh said:only I would ask this question, but does your computer have name?
mine is "BadBoy G5"
Jarred Land said:Oh boy.. see now that is why i didn't want to switch to Mac.. cause all the friggin weirdo's that name their computers and put apple stickers on the back of their green convertible VW bugs.
Just an FYI to people thinking of buying/upgrading their processors. While the AMD processors are fast, and Intel is trying to position their 64-bit processor like it's the Second Coming, keep in mind, that NONE of the applications we tend to use are 64-bit (Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, etc.). As far as I know, the performance increase when using the 64-bit version of WindowsXP with 32-bit apps is negligible.Justin_Kirch said:Especially with AMD 64 bit processors. Those things are sickly fast.
Justin_Kirch said:I have a friend who works for Apple and he said they anticipate the Intel processed Macs just after Christmas. This may be a rumor, who knows, but that would be freaking cool.
I agree with you Jarred on the price of the 2.7ghz Macs. They shouldn't cost as much as they do, but us PCers (me right now), have to understand that Macs are sick in terms of stability and performance. I have a 2.26 ghz Dell with 512 mb RAM and I haven't had any major problems yet, knock on wood. I do think that Macs are the better systems to be working with for editing, but I think PCs can render graphics faster. Especially with AMD 64 bit processors. Those things are sickly fast.
HA! LOL! (All my computers are named after their processor. The only sticker on my car is the one that says "Police Interceptor.")Jarred Land said:Oh boy.. see now that is why i didn't want to switch to Mac.. cause all the friggin weirdo's that name their computers and put apple stickers on the back of their green convertible VW bugs.

Well, maybe I'm wrong and I'm sure AMD is probably THE way to go for PC hardware for max speed. I just think it's REALLY disingenuous when PC sales guys try to sell users on 64-bit "speed" when there really are no 64-bit applications written yet to take advantage of the architecture. Am I wrong, is this changing soon? I'm just getting tired of buying a new processor every six months.Justin_Kirch said:This may be true, but from what I know they do load and render graphics much faster than a pentium could ever do.
Jarred Land said:Yeah.. I just got a dual core AMD 64 4200 system last month, and it screams... and was about the same price to assemble as a 1.4ghz mac mini. Apples should actually be cheaper.. i mean its one company, there is a middle man taken out of the business model and the fact that the options are limited to less than a dozen systems compared to the 100s of PC models the bulk manufacturing scale should average out.
Nbcshooter said:But I think I'll wait out Apple's major processor switch next fall when they move from the Motorola/IBM PowerPC to the Intel processor architecture (not to mention, the wait for the new OS and rewritten apps to work with it).
