The Peacemaker - a documentary

yes we are just $745 away, hard to believe. Incredibly thankful to all the backers for getting us this far.

to everyone here: I was thinking about lowering the John Savage personalized signed copy of The Deer Hunter to the $50 range for dvxusers members to get us over the goal line. If anyone wants to back the film at the $50, you will get all the other stuff and a personalized signed copy of The Deer Hunter. You need just to drop me a message on kickstarter that you are a member here. You never get full value when backing projects on kickstarter, that's the idea i guess, but its a nice reward so grab one if you would like to support the film. Thanks.

if international, I have no idea about cost of shipping so please add a few bucks for that.

Best,
Jim

We hit our goal, thanks here goes to dvxusers Richard Gale, Mark Johnson and Barry Green! We still have 12 days left, and although we hit the initial goal, the film has needs beyond that both for the trip and once we return. If you are on the fence, we would greatly appreciate the support. Thanks.

Just back from filming in Iraq. that makes Kosovo, Northern Ireland and Iraq as the locations abroad that will be in the film.

We got selected to pitch at the Hot Docs Forum! http://www.hotdocs.ca/media/press_r...canadian_and_international_project_selections

Hot Docs is pleased to announce the 19 projects that will be presented during this year’s Hot Docs Forum. Recognized as North America’s essential market for the international documentary community, the Hot Docs Forum will take place the mornings of May 1 and 2 during the 2013 edition of Hot Docs, April 25 to May 5. This year’s projects represent 13 different countries and were selected from 149 submissions.

“The 2013 Hot Docs Forum will be two dynamic mornings of pitches and feedback, launching the most ground breaking works-in-progress docs with intense networking and professional development opportunities for all in attendance”

It has been awhile since I have updated you all on the film and much has transpired since our last post. I am happy to report:

1) We filmed Padraig O'Malley in Nigeria, Northern Ireland and Ireland and went to South Africa to interview the key figures that have worked with Padraig to end conflict. The majority of filming has ended and we have begun editing.

2) We have received critical support from the Sundance Institute receiving a grant from their documentary fund - as well as receiving a Sundance Creative Producing Summit fellowship. We also found important support from the LEF Foundation with a production grant and were invited by the Tribeca Film Institute and A&E Indiefilms to their StoryLab. Additionally we were awarded the Garret Scott Documentary Development Grant that includes a trip to the Full Frame Film Festival where we had meetings with documentary industry. We are really thankful to all of these wonderful organizations for their support!

To anyone who may be considering this -- let me just say, in my opinion, this is certainly a worthy project to support. I've put a lot of money into a lot of different DVXUser's kickstarter campaigns, and none of them has come within a hundred miles of what BosIndy's "The Peacemaker" is doing. They're close to finishing it, and they've caught the eyes of several major organizations (like The Sundance Institute, the director of the Toronto film festival, the Tribeca Film Institute, and more).

I have made a fairly substantial contribution to their initial campaign, and it looks like this is going to be the best film I've supported. The finishing funds they're asking for in this campaign are significant, yes, but they've already raised about 1/5 of it with 19 days to go. I would encourage anyone who can afford to donate some to this project, to please consider going to the Kickstarter page and backing it.

And please spread the word. Tweet it, share it, let's get the word out and see if we can't push BosIndy and his team over the top. Thanks for your support!

Barry, thanks so much for such a wonderful post - and thank you for your support. It has meant a lot to me and the film. We did hit our number and it has allowed us to continue with our edit. Things are going well.
