FEATURE: The Park - (comedy/mockumentary) - A Matt Sconce Film

We have been so busy with pre-production we haven't been keeping up with this blog. We start production this Sunday the 26th, shooting all of our Scottish free climber shots. Then it will be 7 days a week for 4 weeks; one week off for AOF in late July, and 2 days + pick-ups in August. Things are going very well, and we are ready to rock production. Our read throughs went so well. The cast was roaring with laughter at the script... A good sign. I am working on sets, and purchasing final materials for the production this week, then it is off to production Sunday. We will shoot on a rock dome the first day, then it is off to creekside shots for the next two days.

We were excited to finish the final distribution deals for our first feature, STRICKEN (See the STRICKEN thread for a complete start to finish feature film blog.) We now have distribution with all VOD, International and DVD/Blu-ray/ Television rights purchased. We have learned so much finishing the first feature, and go into THE PARK with so much more experience. Thanks for following our progress.

Congrats guys. Conventional wisdom says to pick either action or horror as a genre since comedy does not sell well overseas. How are you guys addressing this reality in your strategy? Are you focusing more on domestic success rather than on foreign sales as the traditional indie model recommends?

Good luck!

Just got back from filming with Matt and his team and I have to say it was one of the best film experiences I have ever had.....thanks guys for trusting me with your writing, looking forward to another run....

We are almost done with production. We have two more days of production left out of a total of 32.
Director Matt Sconce is actually doing post and is ONE HOUR AND 14 MINUTES into the rough cut already.
We had issues with one of the stars having his day work schedule changed with no notice, and that ended up conflicting with another star's schedule where they could never be on set at the same time without some give. We would be done with production if not for this problem.
The Panasonic GH-2 camera with 14-140 f4 lens and the 20mm, 28mm, 50mm f1.4 Nikon lenses; the Zoom H4n for recording, and the Sennheiser 416 mic combination have been a joy to work with in this film. We are more than very pleased with their performance.
Production has gone well. We are very grateful to have had wonderful and dedicated actors on THE PARK project and have had talented help. Locations have been epic, and our B-roll has been really fun to shoot.
DVXUsers Troy Ruff (AD), Jason Miller (Grip, Boom), and Stan Harrington (Actor), have been so great. We cannot thank them enough!
We will be filming our huge bear and cougars next month for our Fuzzy Wuzzie bear and wild cougar shots.

We appreciate our friends on DVXUser for their patience with us in our lack of posts in this project. We have been so busy with distribution of STRICKEN, production of THE PARK, and preproduction of MAGIC that our heads are spinning. All the best to you! :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Thanks for the update Gary, and congrats on getting close to finished on The Park! Looking forward to seeing it!

Nice to see a comedy being done. Congrats on it all coming together. You guys really make a good team.

Director and editor MATT SCONCE and I are putting the finishing touches on the ROUGH CUT for THE PARK, an Epic Mockumentary full of Epic-ness!
The rough is 1 hour, 46 minutes and 24 seconds long. We will lock the cut after a few pick up shots are made in September. It has been a blast watching it tonight. :Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Dang, Gary! You guys move sooooo fast! I hope to be able to knock a movie out as quick as you guys one day. I'm still finishing up mine and it's been almost a year and 4 months. Can't wait to see this one.

It helps that we have had such a great team.

We will be shooting a lot on September 11th, including our last pick up shots with the Rangers and some shots with Stanford and Sammy. We will shoot our last shots with the Rangermobile then too.

I am currently writing another comedy, PEST CONTROL and hope to have it ready for the $100,000 competition for selected Action on Film writers next year. Wish me luck. I have to compete against some amazing writers, including Matt Sconce!
