The Panasonic G1HD | GH-1 Video Mode : A Real Video Mode

How the hell did you beat me to my own upload? LOL

I'm very sorry you guys. I didn' tmean for such terrible footage to be the first. I really wanted to see how the 720/60 > 24 played out with the masses, though.

Again, please forgive me. Organizing an actual narrative shoot is tough.

What a whiner!!!! I've been posting my crap all week!!! Couldn't even delete the junk shots out in the end for the sake of FCP users! :)

PS: Thanks mate

hehe stoner hands

looks good, skin tones, that's all I needed to see. kills the D90.

where's the d/l?

my D90 cemetery stuff is wobbly as hell, but I had to walk the walk.

LOL

Yeah I had to forewarn. Didn't want anyone to go in without knowing they WERE going to get motion sickness.

DL is open. It's not a very well compressed file, though.

good thing u work behind the camera.

You'd never get any work as an actor, you'd spill too many drinks on patrons

Kholi any chance you can upload the raw files?

I still can't get sonics to work

btw I reckon he'll work as a stoner but I'd maybe shave his head or put a beanie on him.

Kholi -- any idea of memory card consumption shooting MJPEG since the datarate is higher than with AVCHD? Also would it be possible to shoot the same scene on a tripod in 1080p24 and 720p60, save a sample frame out from each and then upsize the 720 frame to 1920 x 1080 -- comparing both now same-size frames in Photoshop might be useful to see if 720 is the best way to get 1920 x 1080 out of this camera (perhaps you've already done it?).

Kholi,

Footage looks good. Bokeh looks great.

I retract what I said regarding color/gamma. Most the clips I've seen so far were shot with a contrasty film mode or something. Your clip has very natural tones.

I am still weary of 60p -> 24p conversion. Handheld shots hide cadence errors. I still want to see shots with smooth predictable motion (car passing by slowly in the background of a locked-off shot, for instance).

My favourite shot is the slomo shot around 1:00. Looks very natural.

Hi Kholi,

Nice footage. My only dissapointment comes from apparent lack of resolution. It looks like shot on maybe s16mm. Not 35. :(

I'm really only interested if full HD 1920 can work.

thanks

Shooting all 1080/24 stuff today.

I think the original raw 720 stuff has plenty of resolution, personally.

But going all 1080/24 to see what happens.

I worked really hard to get accurate color out of this camera, that's one thing that took a long time to adjust but glad at least that paid off.

Hey Kholi from what you've been saying 1080 is a waste of time. 720 is plenty res for film-out. Doing an mjpeg 24p conversion sounds like a much better option.

I still want to go out and do a lot of 1080/24 stuff today just to make sure that nothing has chhanged as far as image with my settings. You know, just to double check.

Again, for most telephoto stuff it actually looks fine, but I worry about wides and extra detail.

Just sit tight, I'll have another [bad] example up today.
