I'll settle it right now. Going to best buy. If they won't Let me plug it in I'll buy it.
the scarlet is a brochure not a camera
... It looks like a great little camera, but if you want to shoot HD, why not just shoot on an HPX or HVX?
don't waste your time, it's the same as the D90 just a live view HDMI out. Don't listen to support guys. pay peanuts get monkeys
Thanks, Squig & Kholi. The D5000's HDMI video out is "lo-fi". Good to know.
Well, I've read through the thread and I'm still confused. Is this Panasonics' answer to the Scarlet?
This camera is basically the adapter killer. It has DOF simillar to RED which is a little less than 35mm but more than 16mm or 2/3rd chip cameras, so it would have a shallower DOF than the 2/3rd chip version of the Scarlet as well. And you can change lenses, use the lenses made for it or with some kind of conversion ring you can use nikons and canons just like with a 35mm adaptor. But you don't need an adaptor - anothr $1500 piece of gear and you don't loose all that light....It looks like a great little camera, but if you want to shoot HD, why not just shoot on an HPX or HVX?
It is quite evident that this camera is very popular. As such, there are going to be a wide range of folks with differing opinions posting in this section.
New cameras tend to bring out the worst in people's behaviors on the boards.
Please keep in mind the rules of the forum, and avoid the personal jabs, etc... It is quite possible to have a debate, discussion, etc... and still remain professional and respectful to one another.
I'm seeing some of you making veiled insults, etc... Please stop. I don't want to have to step in, but some of you who should know better for sure, need to be the example of the tone we like to keep on this forum, not the ones throwing jabs, etc.
Thanks.

Jason
Not really. It has a smaller sensor. Scarlet shoots 2k (theoritcally) and would be a real professional quality cam with out some of the compromises and issues people are willing to work around here. They're willing to work around them for reasons I'll get to in a minute but the draw backs are - some weird alliasing in 1080 24p, you're locked into 24fps in 1080, and 60p in 720, you can't monitor your video accept on the LCD. You wouldn't deal with that stuff with the Scarlet. (...)
I just realized I have to spend more on sound equipment than I am on the GH1. Kinda puts things in perspective.
