The Panasonic G1HD | GH-1 Video Mode : A Real Video Mode

I worked on "I am Legend" and the first Canon 5D was the camera all the special effects guys used. Everyday sometimes several of them taking pics after every scene, 360 degrees with and without their 3d modeling spheres. So seeing one on a set of a big special effects picture is normal.
Which is what I initially thought about in regards to Iron man.

Nowadays anything and everything is possible with this new technology. In the not so distant future we will start seeing big productions done completely with this type of cameras.

If theres a size constraint the POV from the suit seems possible. I mean Michael Mann used those tiny bullet Iconix (?) cams , stitching two of them for POV of punches in "Ali". He also used the EX1 on his Public Enemies so why does it sound strange that a video DSLR is being used for some minor shots?

Well, it's going to be a difficult choice.

1080/24p to 720P is clearly exhibiting more resolution.
720/60P clearly shows a more resilient image by far to my eyes.

In 1080 the camera has an issue with Aliasing the wide end no matter which Pulldown method you use. it's in the footage. At least with this 14-140 lens.

The 720, I can't find the Aliasing anymore.

The aliasing issue also seems to be resolved by downcoverting the 1080 to 720.

You have other lenses don't you Kholi?

I wonder if swapping out the glass will make much of a difference???

"more resilient image by far" sounds like a no-brainer to me. nobody complained about the D90 being 720p....except maybe John

I'm still confused about how you are getting 24fps out of the 60p

Try using KM Player...

I'm confused. I thought this camera could only do 1080p @ 24fps. But, it looks like your video data says it's 1080p @ ~30fps? Am I reading that wrong?

ALIASING -- Its there on Wides with the Kit Lens. I've yet to try another wide angle lens but it's certainly there and shooting in either mode, it exists. you can save buildings by rotating the camera until the aliasing vanishes but archways and curves will not be saved.

Reserving final thought on Aliasing as a whole until I get my Nikon and Contax adapters.

You will have to decide, personally, how Aliasing affects your shooting. I like my wides, so I hope that it's just this lens or something like that. =T

Kholi at what width do you start to get the aliasing?

maybe philip could take this up with panasonic. hopefully they will push the codec to 24fps maybe that would fix it. Do you get more aliasing if you shoot on one of the lower quality settings?
