The Official Winners!

Wow guys thanks so much for putting us so high on the list! I want to let everyone know how much I apperciate you guys on here. Your comments, conversations, and compliments meant so much to us on this project. I look forward to more action the future!

I want to thank EVERYONE for the support that I received. I am excited to venture into my next project (with a cast and crew!!!) and strive to better my skills in this craft of filmmaking.

I have never had such tremendous support as I have found on this site!

Truly, an amazing experience with an amazing group of people!!!

Question, the overall score shows HALFWAY and MEAT tying for 3rd place. Am I reading that correctly? If so, how does HALFWAY get recognized over MEAT for 3rd? Just wondering what the tie breaker is, especially since MEAT rec'd 1st place for Screenplay?

BTW, if the mods are interested for the future contest, I'm sure I could score FINAL DRAFT or MOVIE MAGIC screenwriting software for the best screenplay next time. Just an idea.

yeah, I wondered that too. If you add them all up though and divide by 6, you'll see that HALFWAY was like a 100th higher in its score, although the one decimal point in the "total" of the spreadsheet doesn't show that.

Halfway = 7.283333...
MEAT = 7.26666...

Look at the cell values. The "7.3" is rounded off. Halfway is 7.29, Meat is 7.25.

Talk to Barry_S or Jarred, but heck yeah I'd think we'd want to do that!

A big congrats to all the winners!

'Guts' placed exactly where (if not higher, haha) I expected it to. All the things I knew going in were confirmed by you smart voters! I learned a lot. Mostly that I do best when MUCH better prepared. Next fest will be different. We'll try having a script this time! Our biggest accomplishment was getting it in on time!

Winners, put your new toys to good use! Happy shooting,

Ladyhazle

Yeah thanks Norm.. that would be very cool.

Congratts to Jack for kicking ass again.

Story is something people seem to struggle with, you guys are getting the actual production values pretty high. Next fest I think we are going to push it towards a story driven contest.. enough with the offbeat themes for a change.

one request to everyone. lets not start questioning the results... or they will never be released again.

Thanks :)

Jarred, thank for hosting this festival. You and all of the mods need serious congrats thrown your way!

You give us such a great forum and platform to practice this craft.

Thank you all for helping us to become better at what we enjoy doing.

You support is unsurpassed.

I am so proud to be a dvxuser.com member!

Seriously!

No worries. But I wasn't questioning results, merely trying to explain them! :beer:

Barry Green, thanks for pointing out the cell values ... didn't even think to look at that, and it makes sense now.

Just a question I had while trying to look at everything, not really questioning it Jarred. I think EVERYONE is super excited to see the spread sheet, just like good ol' SciFest. Thanks for sharing it Jarred/Barry_S! :thumbups:

Jarred ... remind me when the next fest is announced, and I'll contact those companies. Maybe I'll start a poll about that time to see which software is the more preferred as well.

A story driven fest next time, eh? I agree ... you know, Musicals can have GREAT stories, he he!

What's the next theme? I am itching to get crackin' on SOMETHING.

DOWN, BRANDON, DOWN! You've got to finish SMUGGLER'S RANSOM ... you should have your hands full as it is. :)

Then again, I know what you mean. We're working on our feature, and I know we'll still probably do the next fest ... this time actually planning for it.

Haha! I KNOW I've got to finish Smuggler's! I am on the waiting end now, for Score, Sound and some VFX.

But, I DO want to plan something more expansive and planned out for the next fest. I've improved technically in many things, so I want to implement that toward a fest entry now :)

Funny thing is about 2 hours after that picture was taken we ran into Issac Brody. We were bitching and complaining as usual about stuff, over coffee at Waveryl Diner, when we finished, and went ou side for a smoke, some guy comes up to us (mark Me and JAck)and says, " are you filmamkers? , im Issac brody...." an we all hugged him. hes cool.
