Dallas
Arizona
NY Giants
Seattle
Green Bay (again, optimist here. Ugh. Losing Cutler was just, ugh.)
New England

As long as the Texans finally post their first winning record, I don't care what else happens.

I just don't see that happening.

I'm not sure why Gary Kubiak gets all this coaching credit. He hasn't really done anything. Thing is, as a lifelong Bronco fan, I can tell you that Shanahan taught Kubiak everything Kubiak knows. But, Shanahan didn't teach him everything Shanahan knows. You just can't teach the offensive "gift".

It really sucked seeing Tedy Bruschi retire last week, man, that guy was a warrior, so many memerable moments over the 13 years.

I saw this on The Onion and even as a Pats fan, had real good laugh at this....

FOXBOROUGH, MA—In a rare show of emotion, Patriots coach Bill Belichick began to cry during linebacker Tedy Bruschi's farewell press conference Monday, shedding a noxious black discharge that burned through the podium and a solid concrete floor before eventually coming to rest deep inside the mantle of the earth below. "He's helped create a tradition here that we're all proud of," Belichick said as the tears melted ribbons of flesh from his cheek, exposing his skull. Reporters fled the scene when superheated chemical fumes emanating from the toxic liquid formed a cloud of poisonous gas, prompting Bruschi to vomit blood just moments after Belichick had called the two-time Pro Bowler a "perfect player." As Belichick sloughed grotesquely into a liquid heap, he was reportedly heard to ask if this is what love is.

Man, can't wait until Monday night, going an entire year withou Brady playing is just to long of a time.

Tick tock, tick tock...one more day.

Even I, a lifelong Bronco fan, cannot wait. The critics are expecting gloom and doom for our season and logic would tell you, they'd be right. But, football isn't solely based on logic. It's about intangibles, unforeseen happy accidents like breakout rookies, and its about the way the ball bounces.

So, even though I have hated and I mean HATED just about everything Josh McDaniels has done this offseason it wouldn't entirely shock me if Denver was one of the surprise darkhorse teams of the season.

I'm with you Rick. None of it makes any sense, and I think that getting rid of Shanahan will go down in history as one of the biggest mistakes in NFL history.

So, even though I think Cutler acted like a jerk, there was a part of me that wasn't sure how I was going to feel when a bunch of guys I had never seen in Bronco uniforms took the field against what should have been their franchise QB.

Turns out that I really am a Bronco fan right to the core. I didn't know half the guys on the field and I was rooting for them like a child.

I think that Orton will not make it to the end of the season. I like him, but he is a stopgap solution. McDaniels' offensive style may not require an Elway/Montana/Young caliber quarterback, but he is going to want to get someone who can lead the offense for the long haul. Not sure Orton is the guy for that.

BUT, as was discussed ad infinitum when Shanny got canned, the real problems with the Donkeys have been in their D and their special teams. I haven't exactly been impressed in the pre-season, but we'll see what happens come Tomorrow. Going from a great offensive mind to a good offensive mind who has little defensive experience seems like a strange solution for a team that has had consistent offensive abilities, but gives up a lot of points.

One more day.

Yeah, I can go on and on about the philosophical changes Denver has undergone over the years and I agree; booting Shanny was just plain stupid. Trading Cutler might turn out to be even more catastrophic.

One thing that bothers me about the anti-Shanahan camp is that they try to encapsulate their feelings with sound bytes and mini-stats rather than looking at his entire body of work. One great example of this is "he only won one playoff game in 10 years." This one burns me. For starters, you can't take a brush and sweep over 10 years and say "1 playoff win in 10 years" and have that stat sit there like a fart in church. To be fair you have to dissect his performance from the previous playoff win to the one from 2006. That aint 10 years. He was reloading. Always struggling with the Defense but it wasn't for lack of effort. Then, we get one game away from the big dance in 2006 and what does he do? He decides to muster up the cajones to insert the rookie. Cutler was always going to be better than Plummer ever could, imo. I think it was the right move even if it meant slipping a notch or two for a couple of years.

Well, it was beginning to pay off. Statistically, Denver had the number 2 overall Offense in ball movement last year. It was on the cusp of being BRILLIANT again. Shanahan needed time to re-load. It takes time. Defensively, we couldn't get much worse than last year. So, in my opinion, we would have gone to the playoffs this year with a heavy emphasis of Defensive moves. So, anything less is a fail in my opinion.

People want to give Josh a few years to demonstrate success but hey, he did not have to blow up the entire team. He could have kept the offense in tact. So, if we don't go to the playoffs it will be a fail. The only exciting thing is that I really have no clue how we will fare this year. Without Cutler, I'm thinking 5-11 or 6-10. But we have the element of Surprise on our side. Plus, our Defense looked VASTLY improved this pre-season over last year. So, if we miraculously went on a tear and won 10 games I wouldn't be entirely shocked. But, I wouldn't say "I told you so either". I will eat crow, gladly, for bashing McDaniels so much back in March, April and May.

But, we gotta get to the playoffs. Or, off with his head.

Yeah, I know this is well-trodden material, but if you are taking over a team, you need to keep something that's working. The one thing that the Broncos have done well is move the ball. Leave that the hell alone and fix what isn't working.

There were times when I screamed at Shanahan for some of his decisions. But he was willing to take chances and he knew his team and what they could do, right down t the 3rd string punter. He had a great eye for talent and knew how to win. Nobody is perfect, but for the first time in years I was excited at the end of last season. They were soooo close to having the pieces in place. What Bowlen should have done was bring in a GM to work with Shanahan. Football is like making movies. Just like a director needs a producer and an AD to keep him in check and challenge him, a head coach needs coaches who will question him and a GM who will tell him no. That was where the Broncos screwed up.

And FWIW, for attitude and heart, I will be a Jake Plummer fan until the day I die. Going to Cutler was probably the right move, but it turned out to be for nothing. Given the fact that Cutler left anyway, I would have loved to see Plummer finish out that season.

Oh Well. Sunday is just a few hours away.

WOW, just caught the end of the Broncos game.....thats was crazy........smart move by Stokely to kill time too.....crazyness....

Like today :D What a game... it stunk, but they won... I think it's going to be a long year.

I wouldn't say "stunk" since their D did better than i expected. But nothing to be thrilled about except a mark in the Win column.

Wow. How did we get away with one? They way I see it is luck favors the prepared. And, Denver was in the right place at the right time and kept Cincy's score low all day...etc...

Having said that, where the heck is our Offense???!!! This is what I was afraid of because of the Cutler trade. I know, he has thrown (game is still on) 3 INTs. But, I don't care about that stat. I still think if he was a Bronco we'd be moving the ball better.

MNF...dying to see the the Raiders get their a**es handed to them.

Divisional games are bittersweet for me. As a lifelong Bronco fan, I hate the Chargers and Raiders (and the Chiefs). I mean, HATE. But, when they play each other, the joy of seeing one lose is quickly muted by the fact that one of them won.

If I had to pick a team to hate the most it would be the Raiders. Having said that, I don't like this undo attention the Chargers have gotten over the past several years. I like to see them dropped down a peg.
