The Official "Next Fest" Idea Submission Thread

I keep suggesting "CrimeFest" every time and I will until the day I see it happen. It seems to generate a lot of interest, so, CRIMEFEST.

I have been doing the same for a while as well. If Crimefest does happen it won't be until spring. Wait Spring IS the next fest.

Warfest is another one I like.

To kinda fit in with the current Scriptfest, what about "ThrillFest?" Not necessarily thrillers, but thrills like:

1. To cause to feel a sudden intense sensation; excite greatly.
2. To give great pleasure to; delight.
3. To cause to quiver, tremble, or vibrate

It would kinda fit in with the whole "summer blockbuster" theme of the cycle of fests. And then they could do "ChillFest" for the Halloween fest.

And to round it all out, maybe something like "WillFest" for the next winter human drama fest.

I dunno.

How about a Fest to see who could make the very best BAD film? The best of the worst!

Call it the MystieFest. I once had an idea for a movie called 'Making Mysties', about a filmmaker whose goal was to make a movie good enough to get distribution, but BAD enough to get on MST3K.

BudgetFest.

Make a short film for under $XXXX.

Rentals are allowed but will be counted in the budget at purchase price(for fairness).
Actors fees are not counted towards the total but go into a side budget.
Any equipment not made specifically for video/photo/film are not counted towards the total but go into a creativity budget.
Editing/Post computer fees are not counted towards the total but go into a IT "budget".
Travel and lodging fees are not counted towards the total.

All entries must stay under the main budget to compete. Side budgets are used for mini competitions with the main fest.

What if someone already owns $$$$$ equipment? Seems like they get the best advantage in this fest.

^ That pops up every fest.

I say the requirement must be one death. Simply because I'm sadistic. I think that's the one.

No way. Whatever you use counts towards the budget whether you already own it, rent it or buy it. It doesn't matter if you get it for free, if you use it, you must add it to the budget at market value.

I noticed the current ScriptFest. I say HitchcockFest and bring back the required item, making it anything the filmmaker wants as long as it's a MacGuffin. That could make things real interesting. I also think that it would be great publicity for DVXuser to surround a fest around Hitchcock... should make the news in the various filmmaker, festival, and movie outlets all around.
