The official "I got my AF100" thread

I can't remember ever having a bad experience with their customer support until today...but considering that they were the only guys charging the full amount up front I expect them to be one of the first getting their units delivered. And they definitely shouldn't be acting bothered and indifferent on the subject of my order.

I would never give any dealer the entire purchase price up front. Refundable deposits only. B&H, having taken the full amount down months ago, should be very clear on why they can't deliver as soon as other dealers, if that's the case. There are some dealers who wouldn't offer a refundable deposit either, and I avoid them. Abel Cinetech has been very good with their communication to me every step of the way and I was only asked to put a single refundable deposit down on one camera, even though ordering two. Meanwhile, B&H has been making interest on their customers money all this time.

Nope. Not yet. I just saw that someone had posted that someone in NZ was showing pictures that they had received one, so I figured we should make a thread to keep the notices in one place.

Well Mr. Green, how many times do I have to tell you that we are at least 17 hours ahead of you guys and always will be. Mind you that's 17 hours ahead and 15 years behind. Have a great Christmas break and a Happy New Year to you and all the other DVXUser.coms.

Oh, BTW did I mention that we are also two seasons ahead and looking forward to a hot and sunny Chriistmas day tomorrow?

Cheers

Rick

B&H is generally the go-to vendor, but I thought their pre-order policy was obnoxious, went searching around here, and have so far been very happy with Full Compass. Competition is a healthy thing.

Unless you do 6 months same as cash. Then you can write it off on this year's taxes without paying a cent, and pay it off next year.

I wanted to second the good words for both Full Compass (in specific Shawn from Full Compass) and Abel Cine Tech. I had pre orders with both and they were both extremely helpful and answered all questions that I had. Full Compass told me I was in their first batch so I ended up buying from them, but I wouldn't hesitate from buying from either of these companies in the future. I definitely recommend both of them for anyone still looking to order an AF100.

Thanks Jeff. We are really focused on our customers and this industry.

Competition is healthy, and I'm just glad we are part of the conversation. I can only hope that our level of service and support can put us ahead of the big box movers in some way.

Does anybody know if Spec-Comm received any AF100 stock yet?? I think I'm high on that list. :)

Abel-Cinetech gives me great service on top of great pricing. You and Mitch do great video blogs, and your NY and LA locations have some very bright industry people, not order takers. I've been buying video gear for 30+ years and I always feel more comfortable with sales and service people who have actually worked in the production industry. I used
to buy exclusively from Band Pro, until I started offering Panasonic cameras for rental. I'm very satisfied with Panasonic and Abel-Cinetech support, and I'm not always the easiest client around!

The .95 Voigtlander came in today. Extremely well built tank of a lens. Will shoot some tests next week. I did really love the focus ring... very smooth and yet beefy.

Anyone call Full Compass yet for an update on their AF shipment? Are these guys open tomorrow (Xmas Eve)

I wouldn't bother. Shawn & co. know how eager everyone is to get their camera and are appreciative of the business, so if you're in their first wave of sales, you can bet as soon as they hit his loading dock, you'll know about it. Likewise, until he physically has them, you won't hear anything, as they rightly don't want to over-promise.

I actually sent Shawn an email today about my order. He said he fielded over 30 emails today about them. Also said they were still on track to ship january.

Hmm. Ship January? My sales guy at full compass had their purchaser check with Panny a couple weeks ago and he was told they were on track to ship end of December, expected receive date was December 27. This is important to me because I have a shoot which would benefit from the AF100 originally set for next week, but pushed back at least a week and a half. So I thought sure I would have it in time. Ship January is not what I was being told by Full Compass a week or two ago. I hope this does not indicate that there is a delay. Really need the camera for this shoot. Maybe he's saying January to CYA?

Barry,

Sorry that your thread got hijacked. You want to start another? Maybe with some instructions as to exactly what you want folks to post?

My guess is that you want something like:

Name:
Where received:
When (date/time):

Cool?

Jeff
