I'm not so much a frequent talker on the boards, but I'm here every now and then. I recently took the plunge on the new 7D and also bought a new bird(named Don Corleone). The two together inspired this short.

Not bad, great use of angles and cuts to build the tension. I cant imagine how difficult it must have been working with animal actors, lol.

In that pan/zoom shot at the end did you zoom by hand, or use a slider of some sort?

That actually was my homemade dolly in motion. Just a simple push on it - it's no where near as smooth as I wanted it to be, but hey, not bad for a dolly that really needs work.

And the animals were a pain in the butt to work with. The bird was pretty easy. We ended up moving his cage around so I could leave the door open and shoot one of his perches while he chirped at the tweeting noise from playing on my computer.

The dog on the other hand originally had speaking roles. Unfortunately, he's not one to bark much. That and he's very clingy, so he often wanted to just wander over to me as I shot. My wife ended up distracting him for many of the shots.
