The Next Big Thing from Sony

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let it be a 16x1 ENG style servo zoom for the FS700. My god, couple that with a few fast primes...the FS700 would be a lethal weapon.

The announcement is for the XDCAM line. I don't think it will be what you're asking for.

Oh man toss in 120fps (even if it's via buffer) in a updated EX3 and I'd snag that in a heartbeat!

I have my sights set on a FS700 but something like that would fit my needs even better!

Id rather call it 'the next Medium thing.
 
Introducing a proper successor to the EX1 is kinda a big deal. They'd handed a lot of that market over to Canon and Panasonic by not have a 50mbit 4:2:2 camera in the sub 10k range.

Shallow DOF cameras are great - I'm an F3 owner, but they're not the right tool for many jobs.
 
4k is 'Big'
XD cam is a compression style (is it not?)

Seems like a good spec for EX5, or F5

Keeping raw for the F65

Personally a 2.5k S16 or S35 raw shooter would float my boat..

A F5 with quad hd and 200Mb 422 xdcam codec would be grand. put in s-log and a price that is around the c300 and you would really have at least the next big sensor thing. I think what we really need is compressed 4k. Compressed 4k would be a perfect basis for high quality 2k or full hd delivery. 10 bit wouldn't hurt but I think maybe panasonic will give us that with a version of their abc ultra (i wonder if there is a 10bit 400Mb quadHD avcintra in there somewhere). On the same theme a 4K 2/3 camera would be interesting as well. We all know how nice and convenient it is to make a sd-delivery from hd think about having the same possibility going down to HD.

4 is unlucky in Chinese I believe, in Japanese is means they haven't sold enough .. yet.
