The Man in the High Castle

I hold Schrödinger personally responsible for all the Schrödinger cat videos, especially those clips where the cat doesn't move because he may (or may not be) dead.

But you must never watch Schrödinger's video, as the process of watching his video may kill or save the cat, so the cat is simultaneously dead and alive as long as the video is never watched...

Yes, but then there could probably be a lot of strange videos with other cats not called Schrödinger but Heisenberg or, worse, dogs instead of cats. Endless possibilities. As the old saying goes: One universe is not enough.

Have you opened his coffin box?

As for the 'contrary to facts'... There was some amount of support for various aspects of the NSDAP in the US. Notably Henry Ford. So it is in my mind conceivable that due to the continuing depression, due to complete failure on the part of the existing government, that perhaps such industrialists would 'invite' the Germans in to shore things up. Of course once in the door... they went beyond just getting the US back to work, and productive.

In 'real life', Hitler came to power by a coalition of conservative politicians, who they felt they could 'control' the younger and inexperienced Hitler, and gain his popular movement to support their agenda...

Hitler of course as soon as he came to power, side stepped their attempts to control... and the rest is history...
Hitler gave Ford the German Cross in Gold, the highest award that could be given to a foreigner.

On purely economic principles, the Nazis lived up to their Socialist ideals (the Sturmabteilung under Ernst Röhm was almost as communist as the Soviets) and retained the amazing inefficiencies in their military industrial complex. Which is what cost them the war more than anything else. Therein lies a logical assumption that, had Ford been a Parteigenoße, he'd have been far more dangerous to the world than Hitler, who was merely a fantasy driven criminal psychopath.

Yes. Röhm was part of the party which would have had radical socialist programs, such as nationalization of industry, and in general dismantling 'capitalism'. However, Röhm was just the 'muscle'.

Otto and Gregor Strasser were the minds of the radical Socialist side of the party. Otto was kicked out of the Party in 1930, left for Czechoslovokia, and later settled for a number of years in Canada, and in the 50's returned to Germany. Gregor was killed along with Röhm in 1934.

In terms of influence, 'Strasserism' is to be found amoungst certain 'radical right' groups and continues to today. A local, to my neck of the woods, white supremicist, Tom Metzger, was impressed with some of Strasserism.

Strasserism views Hitler as a sellout to Capitalism and what would be called these days the Military Industrial Complex.

As it all threatens to get pretty political, let's keep everything actually in relation to the show. Discussing what changes might have been necessary in reality to produce the outcome depicted would likely be mostly fine. Getting into socialism and capitalism and the nature of each and so forth . . . not as much.

Season 2 was not as good. It meandered; most of the characters seemed be in perpetual sulk mode. It seemed to have mostly the same ending as season 1.

That's not to say I didn't enjoy it. It was just missing some of the oomph of the first season.

Perhaps it was the more obvious movement between 'alternate universes'... I don't know if that worked as well as it was intended.

But I guess it explains the source of the film reels...

But in terms of the technical aspects I'm still impressed...

Funny, I just now 'discovered' this series and have watched the first four episodes. Yes, it starts a little
slow, but it's very uniqueness has pulled me in. I try not to binge watch shows I like too much, as I then
waste too much time watching my iPad, plus then I have to find another show! I have been watching an
episode per night. I also just did a little research and see that the show has been renewed for a third season.
