FEATURE: THE LOST CHILDREN - A FEATURE FILM by Mark Harris

Also, if you haven't seen it check out EVIE, the short that kicked this whole universe off. Props to Spike and Mike for bringing the magic.

And thanks to Zak for screening us at the 2009 DVXFest screening in LA. Though I can never forgive him for making me follow MovieMaster. You just can't follow an act like that...

Couple of updates:

We are about four scenes from being 100% in the can. I have a very rough draft of ACT I laid out in the timeline. Now moving into ACT II. Mainly making sure I have all the footage I need to tell the story.

Hoping to finish these few scenes within the next month. Couple of them are pretty huge with some EFX. Then have a real rough cut by Aug 1. Then I will likely start doing some focus groups on that cut.

Wanted to thank some DVXUsers who've helped:
Rodney Smith - Production help
Will Clegg - Production help and loan of some gear
Aram Bauman - Shooting
Sad Max - Validation of some artwork.
muonwave - Science advising.
Luis Caffesse - Convincing me not to jump off a bridge, and generally being a voice of sanity and encouragement. Also great feedback throughout the process.
Jack - Lending some advice on an EFX shot I need to do.
Who did I miss???

Couple more grabs:

It was a pleasure to help dude. Just wish I could have done more... maybe if I actually stayed in NYC for more than 4 weeks at a time... Good luck with the edit. Just hang in there.

That's an amazing location. You could shoot a lot of different stuff there, even some stuff pushing the period back a bit further than the actual architecture.

What can you tell us about getting to shoot there? How expensive and was it hard to get permission? Thanks.

It's in Philly.

It's super cheap. $25/head/hr with a 5 person minimum. We will have 5 people there, so about $1000 for 8hrs. Compared to some similar places in NYC, it's a steal. And then just they usual insurance requirements, etc.

And they filmed 12 Monkeys there :)

I presume that's where they shot the 12 Monkeys prison scenes, but it looks very different in the film. Awesome location.

Looks like I'll be too late to NY to be of much help, but as soon as I'm there, I'd definitely like to help in any way I can. Even if it's just giving test screening feedback.

Just thought I'd mention it - but you could probably shoot some background material at Johnson Space Center, NASA - just a couple of hours away from Austin. I might even take the day off to help.

Can you get me in John? :) Now all I have to do is get to Austin!

Have a bunch of updates soon. Mostly about techniques and some of the things we're working on.

Tonight went through the cut - such as it is - with my partner and talked over a couple of problem areas - one thing we might re-shoot.

We shoot in Philly in July. One of the actors is a sketch-comedy girl and she travels quite a bit, so schedules are hard. She is in Edinburgh for the whole month of August for the fringe, so have to have her done by then though.

We are planning the bulk of the remaining big shoots for the last week in June, first week in July. Then should be 100% in the can.

Also working on techniques for getting the right look of degraded footage I want for certain parts. Some of the story depends on how you interpret phenomena and images that are not entirely clear.

Couple of the things we're working on:

And one shot of Godfrey. I will organize all of this more soon.

I'll look around today and see what the policy is, and whom to contact. Might take me a couple of days (in the middle of a project right now - swamped). Here's some resources though, might help for background images and such (I typed those in there - not sure of the links).
