The Letter | My first short narrative film

This film was a project for a beginning film-making class that I took this semester where we had to write, direct, film, and edit our own 2-5 minute short film over the course of two weeks. Although I have been a casually self-taught editor for around two years, this was my first time juggling all the other responsibilities involved in the film-making process.

It was shot in one night and post production lasted about two weeks. I'm really happy how it turned out. It is extremely satisfying coming up with an idea for a story and then turning it into a visual experience that you can share with others. It was a blast to make, and I look forward to creating more in the future.

Everything was shot with a Canon Rebel t2i, a Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX lens, and a Monfrotto tripod/fluidhead.

I hope you guys find this entertaining.

Looked nice. Good audio.

Here are two problems I have with the story.

1. The handwriting is his, not hers. Pretty obvious. During any investigation that will come out, not to mention his fingerprints all over the paper.

2. She's asleep and he puts the gun in her hand and leaves. What are you implying here? She isn't dead, or at least she sure looks alive and peaceful and has no bullet holes through her head. Does he think she'll kill herself?

Am I missing something obvious?

The above poster is right. Uh...that's not her handwriting, so why would people assume that she wrote the note?

Visually it looked nice. Audio was good, except for some of the ADR work which was either too loud, or just wasn't mixed properly. The footsteps come to mind as sounding very, very fake.

i liked the concept. you had some nice shots in there too, good color correction.
its funny because I shot my short film with the 550d called "The Letter" about 6months ago.
you can find it on dvxuser haha
