The Greatest Miracle

thanks Gary, I'm looking forward to using it on set, sadly its to heavy for my disks to handle so Hoy will have to double as the hypercam op, it seems to be a really cool design.

ps to any op, can someone move this thread into userfilms. I'm no longer in twilight, but I'm still making the film

man when it rains it poors, lost my van yesterday, so I had to spend the day looking for a rental replacement, and know with one day to go, I lost my makep artist, she emailed me and said she doesn't feel safe going out so early, 8:30 in the morning.

and please can a moderator please move this topic to user films?

I have faith that it will just be cloudy, the devil may be able to work through people to try to stop this film, but he has no say on the weather. so there's joy in that.

well our makeup lady is back with us. we arrive on set in 13 hours. I Pray nothing slipped through and that we're all ready, I do have to find a lamp for one of my mole 1ks tomorrow morning before we get to set.

My friend Yashoo will be by at 7 am to help load the ford f150 i rented for the shoot. needed the truck for the moco and hypercam, only need the moco tomorrow and the hypercam tomorrow and Wednesday the 5th. so next week my aveo should be fine.

more to come. but not tonight.

me no I've never been one of the cool kids, I was one of the behind the woodshop kids,

first day of shooting wrapped tonight,

dispite all day down poors, we managed to get about 3/4ths of what we hoped to do done today, we did get the Moco shot and most of the dolly shots in the can.

Huy and Alan are really good at what they do, it is a pleasure working with them.

Once we wrapped, the rain stopped and it was a breeze to load everything into the truck. I thought we were going to be soaking wet even if we had been in the rain for one minute.

The Greatest Miracle!

After Jason's talk with the Make-up artist, she decided to come back into the team with less than 12-hour notice. Miracle!

Despite that we were down on crew members with a heavy downpour, everyone pulled lots of efforts to get this done smoothly. One day down, not sure how many more days to go. hahaha

First day of Soundie:

Slept at 3:00AM, woke up at 7:00AM. Man was I tired, eyes were rolled up and felt drowsy. Did my business in the shower and quickly dressed up to go pickup Kristen at 8:30AM, who is our Make-up artist. I quickly drove over to her place and scanned for the house number, realizing that several of her neighbors were staring at me like if I was stalking them or looking for trouble (I was wearing ALL black with a tacticle fleece jacket). I looked around and noticed that the house numbers were descending, must be going the wrong way. Took a reverse and BAM, the magic number. While being double-parked on the street, I noticed that my fuel tank was LOW. I thought "Should I fill it now or after we wrap?" Well, took the risk and said "F*CK IT, we'll do it LIVE!" So I waited with my back to the door, then someone shouted "Alan." It was Kristen, in a red top jacket with dark, navy jeans. Two bags, one over her shoulder and a luggage full of supplies. Hopped into the car and we rolled. After driving for about a mile, I noticed that traffic was bad and the rain was getting stronger. 8:40AM.

Once we got onto the highway, we were literally 4 miles away from the Bay Bridge @ 8:55AM. No way no how we can drive 20 miles in 5 miles. After crossing the bridge and taking the correct off-ramp exit, we got LOST. Literally for 15-20 minutes. Santa Maria was so hidden that I made about 10 U-turns to finally spot it. Hmm, a police station? No way! I kept on driving until we saw this sign that said “Santa Maria Catholic Church.” YAY! Final destination. 9:20AM.

We got off the car and went inside to take a look. Main doors were closed, so went around and found someone who works there. Told him that I'm here for the film shoot for Jason Miller, went back to the car and waited. Called Huy, our DP, and asked him what's up. The second he said he's still at home, I panicked! Both Kristen and I thought we were terribly late, but no. Jason wasn't late, just lots of gear and people to pick up. The weather was also a stopper. Jason arrived at about 10:20AM.

Long story short:
Unloaded all gear, re-wrapped all electrical cables, and began setting up lights. Went upstairs with Huy to setup the dolly track for the first shot. For the remaining of the day, we shot on the first floor in the Sanctuary. 2K Soft, 4-5K Hard, and the breakers going down. Total about 6-7K of working lights. Not much dialog happening. Just a quiet day. The toughest part was getting into the shot without any shadows and swinging the boom about 15 feet across to cover the other actor's line. Not too technical, not too vague.

Alan, you're a wonderful sound designer, but you should rethink and write novels instead lol see you in a few hours, I'll be on time this time, no ladder to deal with.
