The Glass Man - Feature Film (Very early trailer)

There good and bad for me... Neve Campbell, Canadian (like me!) plus star power, that dude who I loved from Severance, very cool, and a badass looking bad guy. Interesting story, and seems to be well acted. I'm actually intrigued and would watch the movie, however I'm surprised by that. The trailer seems very amateur film to me. It's got to be the editing I think because like I said performance, lighting, story, it all seems to be there, but something about watching that trailer keeps reminding me it's a low budget thing even though what I'm seeing on screen would suggest otherwise (in context of course, I'm sure it's low budget, but not under 30, 000 low).... anyways your hard work is done, like I said you got most things going for you, it's just the editing of the trailer is pretty weak. In my opinion which you can take with a grain of salt!

listen, it has great potential, at least from the trailer. good acting and shooting.
my only concern is - the trailer itself..... :)

no offense, but i edit these for a living , and i can say this could have been treated more...modernly.

it was very clear to me i could just take these materials and produce a different, modern, effective result. (hope i'm not too direct...)

i felt i should say this because i know it's for the good of selling and advertising the film.

(for example, i myself could have passed this film BECAUSE of this trailer)

it starts fine, until he goes down the stairs and the bad guy enters.
from there, it's getting a bit outdated and weak as a trailer.
can be much much more effective, with the SAME materials.

hope it helps in a way (hell, put me in an AVID with this for a day... ;) )

thanks for your input and for being honest. I'm curious as to what you would do differently?

It looks quite interesting. I would like to see it. I'll echo the sentiments about the trailer. The pacing was a bit slow and didn't seem to reflect the spirit of the film (not that you have to do that these days *blech*). And I'm sure this is something you'll address in ADR, but "yes or no!" sounds to be peaking quite badly to the point of distraction. But like I said, still piqued by the story. I wanna see if he goes badass and enjoys it. :p

The music when the hammer comes up is weak. The music for the trailer needs to echo the horrible nature of the man's situation. I like the story, maybe loose the titles, we get what's going on. I'd cut it this way, just based on the materials you have in the trailer:

Opening image/first act: Man holding his wife's arm as she sleeps crying, he says "We're going to loose everything."
Break into two: A knock on the back door, the bad guy is introduced, He says "You owe me money." Flashes of brutal murder and madness.
Second act: The man and the bad guy sit, the proposition is made. The man says "Yes"
Climax: The man's world unravels as images of the shot gun being sawed off and his wife waking in bed are intercut with the man raising the hammer.
Resolution: You could keep it the same with the man asking if he should keep the car running but I like maybe reserving the man saying "Yes" in the kitchen until the end instead of using it in the second act.

Just my 2 cents...

I would cut this into 2.40:1 aspect ratio.
Also, you have some White Balance issues, some are quite extreme.
Original ones are bottom ones.

The one in bed was really bad one.
