The Feeding

Re: The Feeding

I love the part where the guy is being 'withdrawn' through the window begging to be shot. I like the lighting and the music is well done. Makes me want to see the movie 8)

The trailer is posted on a dark, in this case black, background. This makes it very much more pleasing to the eye - especially for a horror flick. I think most videos should be posted on darker backgrounds, kinda more like a theater - ya know?
Congratulate your friend on a very good trailer, for me at least

Re: The Feeding

This looks solid. When that dude was dragged through the window I almost pee'd with joy. The score sounds great and the visuals look very professional.

Keep us in the loop!

Re: The Feeding

Not bad, do you know who did the music? I'm hoping the monster doesn't look like my avatar. Tell your friends nice work.

Re: The Feeding

Yeah, sweet. If you don't mind me asking, are you planning for distribution and if so, how? Very impressive. How long is it? Just simply impressed.

Cheers.

Re: The Feeding

Is that James Newton Howard's score from "The Village"? It fits perfectly. I wonder if your friend is liscensing it? Howard's one of my favorite composers at the moment (very Bernard Herrmannish). Looks and sounds great!

Re: The Feeding

Looks good.

But, I think I feel a Predator influenced film. Especially with that creature sound at the end that sounds a lot like the one from the movie.

Re: The Feeding

I must say that I really enjoyed the shots from the basement (at least it looked like a basement). Could you give us some info on what the setup was for that shot (ie: lighting, camera settings, etc.) . I'm doing a feature for my Senior project, and it will consist of all night shots, with lots of silhouettes.

Good ear. That is indeed JNH's score for The Village. We are not licensing it, but if any of his lawyer's are reading, please don't sue us. The trailer was put up for the actors to see and I didn't expect to get so many viewers. We have a composer working on music for the trailer and we'll put up the replacement as soon as he's done. Glad you liked it.

That was indeed a small cellar under the house that served as our main location. The light coming in the door was natural sunlight and we hit the window behind him (that served as the light for the female) with a 1200W HMI light. I don't know what the camera settings were, since I wasn't the DP, but we also pumped some smoke into the room to show off the light. Our DP was really good and he did some great things with the camera. His name is Alan Newcomb.

Re: The Feeding

shot well... cut well...
but the story appears to be just like a thousand other films...
the "4 men... hunters.. become the hunted..." text is about 7 years out of date and lowers the production value IMO. leave that shyte in the 90's and do something more unique.
good work overall, though.

Re: The Feeding

Indy horror features tend to be more psychological thrillers, easier to pull off on a small budget. Adding a creature and some gore ups the ante, so to speak. I'd like to see it when it's done. How are you planning to distribute?

Also, it looks like the kind of thing you guys had fun with...shooting guns, fabricating body parts, pulling cast members through windows. Fun.

Re: The Feeding

Excellent trailer, makes me want to see the film. I think the only thing I would have wanted to see a trailer where it was slowed down a little bit, I don't know if that makes any sense, but at least one shot where it lasts for three or four seconds and then: bam! Something jumps out or the guy gets pulled through the window.

Good luck, keep us all updated.

Re: The Feeding

Great trailer! Good work.

The only thing I didn't like were the way the text inserts fade out. This is, of course, completely subjective. If it were me, I would have the text appear as it does now, but fade to black BEFORE it stops "compressing" itself. Do you follow? The fact that the text suddenly stops before the left-to-right wipe makes it look much more video-ish, to my eyes at least. If the letters simply fade to black while still in motion, they'd probably look more cinematic.

Again, good job. Can't wait to see it!
