Hi all I wanted to post what has been one of the best p2 workflow tools Ive ever come across.
Recently looking at my workflow, always having different clients with different needs etc, was causing me a headache. Non stop trying to fit in with them etc. Asking a question in the 500 forum, Jan told me of the shooters that did the Ididarod this year and the software they were using for logging. Shotput pro.
Checked it out and it was very neat. I then looked deeper on their website and found "The exective producer" there are three versions and I went with bronze.
Not only does this tool work for p2, but also SxS xdcam ex footage and red footage from CF.
So heres the basic workflow. Offload p2 cards with shotput pro into multiple locations - one can be external HDD, there you go mr client.
But if youre editing, or compiling days of footage for a client, heres where it gets juicy.
You can import that file into TEP, view all your clips, rename, set TC in out on each clip, autofill sections across all clips, reset TC, log info like clip, take, shooter, etc etc etc - many options - great.
You then export a simple file for the NLE of your choice, nothing major missing from the list. Or you can do for one NLE and then another, takes two seconds to export these files.
You then take your p2 folders and your export data files onto your editing system. THEN, import your data file. All you need to do then is enjoy / concentrate on your edit. No logging to do. You did it all, but with lots of data, all ready set up and organised for your edit.
