The EOS 60D has been announced

WHERE DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST PLACE TO ORDER ONE ONLINE?

pre order on amazon (with my prime account with free 2 day shipping?) or is there somewhere else shipping already. Bestbuy isn't stocking body only :\

I gave up on Amazon, since they still don't have them in stock, and canceled my order. Ordered from Pictureline instead with overnight shipping so, hopefully, I should have it in a day or two. I've never dealt with them before but I hear good things.

I just picked up my 60D with lens at best buy earlier today. They had 2 in stock and so did the 10+ best buys that were all around.

I got some related emails about other items in that order shipping, so I suspect my order is shipping in the next 2 days. Also Amazon changed their status on the item today to out of stock more in soon, rather than 'not yet shipping/released' or whatever they had before. I'm staying with them due to a No interest for 12 months offer they emailed me some time ago that is applying to this order.

B&H got my order most of the accessories to go with this, though I'm waiting a few weeks to grab my 50mm lense (familiarize myself with the camera/kit lense before I start shooting my first intended footage.)

My 60D ordered from Pictureline arrived early this morning. Unfortunately, I probably won't get around to using it for a day or two because of work.

Caffesse and I had a chance to get some hands-on time with the 60D today at our local camera shop. All I can say is I came away very impressed. The build quality is very good, much better than the T2i and almost up to the 7D level. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. Everything feels good in the hand with this camera.

We both felt like the 60D is a big, big step up from the T2i in terms of build.

So has anyone noticed any problems with the mode dial? I picked up a magazine that had a write-up on the 60D, and it said something about the dial not rotating 360 degrees--and the Movie mode was at the far end of the dial from the M, Av, Tv, P settings.

They're not. B&H is usually my first choice but lately it seems like they are closed more than they're open.

There are a lot of Jewish holidays on right now, I think.

This is my first DSLR, I spent about an hour outside this morning just taking random videos and put a short "Test" together, let me know what you think.

I AGREE

Does anyone know if Canon has done anything with the overheating issue with the 60D? Is it any more robust or more of the same?

After I bought my battery grip & set my camera to turn off every minute I have never had an overheating sign again on my t2i in over 100+ hours of shooting

Absolutely - definitely seems closer to the 7D than it does to the T2i.
It's just a little bit smaller than the 7D, and a tiny bit lighter.

It was good enough for me - I wound up going out a few hours later to our local Best Buy and picking up the only one they had in stock.

The only DSLR I've had overheat in any consistent fashion has been the 7D.
I'm convinced it's a combination of the dual processors and the weather sealing on the body.

I haven't even taken the 60D out of the box yet - but honestly I'll be surprised if overheating is a serious issue with this camera, at least nowhere near to the extent it is with the 7D.

Just my 2 cents.
