The Dreaded Church Of Scientology

try refreshing your page or closing and re-opening. It's just an animated gif....

of Jarred turning into Tom Cruise...

I read Dianetics back in the 90's and it all seemed pretty straightforward in my then unbiased view. It was only when I started researching the organization's implementation of the rather benign concepts laid forth in the book that I began to get that feeling like I'd stumbled into a Stanley Kubrick piece.

Scientology is a new-age clandestine organization masked in a slipshod self-help facade. Once you're inside, you are owned by the church and they dictate in no uncertain terms your path forward.

That video was just a creepy fingernail's scrape on the veneer of Scientology's multilayered house of spooks and manipulations. I wish I could be with you guys in Los Angeles (did I just say that?!) to descend on them with scores of cameras - like DVX locusts!

Anyway, if you go, stay entirely on public property and make sure that at least one media outlet know's you're working on a legitimate documentary project.

Have fun!

Sirus, I was talking about the short doc at the beginning of this thread. I only saw it up to the point of when the negative flash effects started happening. But I didn't know about the gif either...good stuff.

Yeah, I don't think you should mess with those people. If you guys need backup, I'll hit up the Chinese Traids for their support. My uncle Chu is down.. :)

..that was just plain creepy. i wouldve pretended like i had a radio in my lapelle, and that i was communicating with other people nearbye and really freaked them out.. say somoething like.. "quicks.. the gaurd is away from his post.. go now.. go go go ! and watch the guy with the camera turn and run. and then just laugh at him. yeah.... good times.

Yeah, you should download a program called GetRight. It's a download resuming program so it's handy if you are downloading stuff that's too big, or you want to get something else, or your internet is going too slow.....

Anyway, I downloaded it with that and it said that it had resumed 15 times by the end, so, I'd say that is your best bet.

Very cool video by the way, aesthetically very good too!

From the Sentencing Memorandum in USA v Mary Sue Hubbard et al, US District Court for the District of Columbia, criminal case no. 78-401, pp.1-4 & 14:

"The United States initiated the investigation which resulted in the instant indictment in view of the brazen, systematic and persistent burglaries of United States Government offices in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, California, over an extended period of at least some two years. Additionally, the United States was confronted with the pervasive conduct of the defendants in this case in thwarting a federal Grand Jury investigation by harboring a fugitive, in effect forcefully kidnapping a witness who had decided to surrender to the federal authorities, submitting false evidence to the Grand Jury, destroying other evidence which might have been of valuable aid to its investigation, preparing a cover-up story, and encouraging and drilling a crucial witness to give false testimony under oath to that Grand Jury ... a review of the documents seized in the ... searches ... show the incredible and sweeping nature of the criminal conduct of the defendants and of the organization which they led. These crimes include infiltration and theft of documents from a number of prominent private national and world organizations, law firms and newspapers; the execution of smear campaigns and baseless law suits to destroy private individuals who had attempted to exercise their First Amendment rights to freedom of expression; the framing of private citizens who had been critical of Scientology, including the forging of documents which led to the indictment of at least one innocent person; violation of the civil rights of prominent private figures and public officials. These are but a few of the criminal acts not covered in the 'uncontested' stipulation of evidence ... defendant Heldt's assertion that 'the policy of the Church prohibits any illegality on the part of its members or staff...' is totally unfounded and incorrect. The evidence in this case ... establish[es] beyond peradventure that the Church and its leadership had, over the years, approved, condoned and engaged in gross and widespread illegality. One, indeed, wonders how it can even be suggested that the defendants and their organization did not make illegal activities part and parcel of their daily work."

Whoa that is weird. I've heard about these situations but seeing it is another thing.

Another uh oh was that the quicktime you posted started to crap out on my and crashed the player about 3/4 of the way through it. Heh, they have already started to destroy the evidence!

:cheesy:

Okay I got to see the rest of it at work. Man I would have waited for that guy to come around the fence. I mean what's he going to do. But then again I like confrontations. That would explain why I always seem to be getting into trouble.

You know "THEY" are watching all of us as we type...They tracked down rgd, hacked into his computer, are currently hacking into Jarred's server to get our email addresses, monitoring all of us to do a preemptive strike against our "group gathering" outside the building again....:evil::undecided:undecided
NOW we know why the server went down last week.

This is so funny! This security guy craps me up. What a weirdo...the twilight zone would be a better pick for this scene. We have the Church of Science in Boston Mary Baker Eddie...but I don't think there affiliated.

We should all organize a large team from dvxuser to go there with our DVX (As the DVX cult) and film the building at the same time! That would be hilarious!

Just to clarify due to a post a while back: I know nothing of the church/organization. I merely find the need for guards and their activity odd....

I'm hesitant to look up information on these people because the internet is notorious for giving wrong information - either intentionally, or unitentionally. Usually the only people who really understand what their organization is about are those that are members - and in this case I would be surprised if any of them talked from the evidenec so far. It's just far too common a problem for me to treat the internet as a viable medium of research in situations such as this.

For (as far as I know) reliable info, check out www.xenu.net

In the late 1940s, pulp writer L. Ron Hubbard declared:
"Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion"

And it gets better after that.

Shaw,

As someone who makes his living doing research, the internet is wonderful, you just have to realize that a lot of it is a load of garbage!!! But, it provides leads, then you chase them down. That's why instead of posting a webpage, I posted a passage from a court filing. But I will say this, after doing all the research I did, most of what is on the net is pretty damn accurate.

Matt

All I ask is that while DVXusers storm the building, at least one aptures that action of the event from a distance - then we all can see it. I would love to join in but don't have the time ... (I would get a kick out of seeing 10 cameras surrounding the building all filming at the same time.)

EDIT:- That would be: CAPTURES

I want to go a little off topic here...

But say creepo-gaurdo decided to snag the DVX and run. or knock it out of your hand to break it... (given that you are on that sidewalk on the other side of the fence...

Who would be liable for the DVX? That one guy? Or the church of Scientology? Or what? I'm curious.

Also, would he be liable when he came over, and rgb did not maintain his 30 feet... so both were on a public sidewalk.
