The Dreaded Church Of Scientology

Well, I'll be the first to respond. That was great, really great. I actually want to thank you for doing it. Very telling. Keep up the good work.

wow - spooky. the security guy was not only documenting, but engaging in performance acts of power, control and intimidation (something others have said scientology has been known for). they are also known to be very agressive when they think they are being attacked. great stuff. it would be great to see this piece on national television.

Freaky man. I'm not familiar with the whole (seemingly usual) situation. What's their big deal anyway? And how many churches have security guards?

Why would you be surprised at building security documenting someone doing surveillance on thier property? Furthermore, why would you be surprised at them having security? It's a large building, and it would be an incredible liability for them not to ensure they knew how many people were going in and out etc.

rgd - thanks, very creepy. Great use of music too btw.

Spiff - spoken like a true member.....
I've shot video outside "large" buildings before, casinos, courthouses, even government buildings and never had security come out and take photos of me.....

Same...

Documenting is fine if they REALLY feel it's necessary but to flat out lie about what is completely obvious to even to most remote moron is just weird. As for security... this is the first time I've EVER heard of a church that had hired guards.... just flat out strange to me (though perhaps it's more common in other parts of the US?).

dude... scary... I'd like bar my windows after that. Why the heck did he get in your face with that camera!? I don't know of any churches with security gaurds... Was this in LA?

Did you see any "famous" people going in and out. Or body bags out the back door. I have to say one thing I do find odd is that they have a big flashing reader board sign. Is that a church or a casino. Good job man. really enjoyed watching it

I was location scouting these really cool old hangers out by the airport one night about midnight and was surprised when four police cars showed up, including the sargeant and asked me what I was doing. I told them I was taking pictures and looking for good places to shoot. . . a music video. They laughed and let me off the hook.. They did say if I even would have so much as touched the fence bordering the airport (which I did not realize I was THAT close to the actual airport) then I would have been cuffed.. Apparently people come out here (mostly HS kids) and try to jump the fence to see if they can "get away with it" really funny until you're in the cuffs. These officers actually got a kick out of what I was doing. Made a simple phone call a couple of days afterwards and the City Manager cleared us with airport authority to use the location at night for the video... We ended up taping at a different location that better fit the needs of the project but that was one funny series of events! lol.

Hi all, thank you for all of your warm compliments! I made this video because a month ago I was shooting a short film and liked the location of that blue building you see at the begining. I setup my camera (on a sidewalk) and within one minute that same security guard on the bicycle came by and tried to stop us, even though I had the camera aimed at the opposite street. Haha, I knew I just had to go back and make a short about how long it takes for their security to respond. Issac, your idea is something I was thinking about after all of this happened. I would like to organize at least ten filmmakers to go back to the location and film them and have a camera filming everything off to the side. I believe I already have 10 people for the job but more is always better and if any of you are crazy and intrusive like me and live in Los Angeles and want to get involved, email me at rgdfilms@gmail.com and we'll discuss more.

thanks guys again!

That "Mexican StandOff with Cameras" is right on. That was creepy and compelling.

I can't wait to see the next footage you get when come back with a dozen cameras.
