My uncle actually works at Area 51. He has to take that plane into work every morning. He does radar work there.
This is after being in the airforce for 30+ years.

How many Christian or Mormon churches in your neighborhood have security guards that run out and question you and take your photo for their "hobby".

that's my favorite part... "It's my hobby, I'm a portrait photographer."

Conspiracy, government cover-ups, aliens, who the hell knows. All I know is he gets a FAT paycheck lol.

I just thought how funny it must have looked seeing one guy filming a security guard and the security guard taking pictures of rgd for 5 minutes. haha

Lloyd,

It's not something you can get through in a few minutes, nor could I go into it in one post. And I'm not saying they are all crazy people. But as someone who spent months of his life researching it, well, there's a lot to learn about. Read up on it if you're interested, read interviews with folks who left, read a book, talk to folks, go to some of their recruitment meetings... I didn't post to throw gas on a flame. Look up their litigation and prosecutions, these are not folks you want to mess around with for kicks - at least they weren't a few years ago. That's all I was saying. Folks can do or think what they want.

Matt

If you think that was creepy, I have had two episodes with that group. About seven years ago I was the head of a software company that developed a very popular 3D application that ran on SGI. This group purchased a site license at cost of over $500K and about $50K a year in support. They had a compound that was a converted golf course and the members all dressed in sailor outfits and had what appeared to be automatic (M16) rifles.

One of the strengths of our application was that any channel data could be used to drive any other channel data, so you could use audio to drive the facial animation of a 3D model. That was exactly what they were doing, they had thousands of hours of audio tapes that they were trying to animate a photo realistic head of the founder of that religion. Talk about life after death or a resurrection.

Long live the king… :cheesy:

beautiful footage, although we still haven't heard about any settings. How did you do your coloring/chroma?

Brilliant and eerie movie by the way, scared the pants off me.

You know "THEY" are watching all of us as we type...They tracked down rgd, hacked into his computer, are currently hacking into Jarred's server to get our email addresses, monitoring all of us to do a preemptive strike against our "group gathering" outside the building again....:evil::undecided:undecided

Sirius, you joke, but I just looked on the web and tapping people's emails is definitely in their character if you are against them.

Btw - I'm in NYC but I'd just about make the plane flight for the gathering of lunatic DVXers outside. I want to egg that dude with the D70.

Yeh..I want to egg him just for using a D70 instead of a 20D!

Now that comment should completely hijack this thread and turn it into a Nikon vs Canon bashing...:evil:
sorry rgd:(

hey - I think Rich Lee's in LA?? Are you game Rich?

This isn't the wierdest part about Scientology, but it is one that affects many people's lives who have nothing to do with Scientology.

Most of the negative attitudes in our country about using medicines for kids with hyperactivity and seroius attention disorders comes originally from the Church of Scientology. Because the media loves controversy, this negativity has broadened so it pervades our society. The fact is, so many people are against "drugging up" kids who are hyper (that DOES sound bad, doesn't it) without any awareness of how the medicines work and what research has been done. The fact is there are hundreds (not dozens) of research studies on psychostimulant medicine (Ritalin is just one in that category - the most maligned one) with children. You'd be hard pressed to find any research that shows this is actually bad for kids. (It's bad when these medicines get stolen and crushed and snorted, but abuse doesn't negate the proper use). Bottom line is that Scientologists have successfully orchestrated a smear campaign against medicating for hyperactivity and attention problems over the last two decades and the media has taken the ball and run with it.

The most recent case in point is actress Kelly Preston (a scientologist and wife of John Travolta) who is doing the talk shows maligning medications for attention disorders and hyperactivity. In the absence of any concrete negative effects, she relies on 1) guilt by association - using the fact that antidepressents can be dangerous to kids and lumping psychostimulants in with antidepressents and you've created the proper fear based upon misinformation and 2) just using the right words that would turn anyone off like "drugging up our kids."

Anyway, I'm a school psychologist and university psychology teacher. I get really tired of counteracting the nonsense that goes on in our culture regarding medicating for hyperactivity (and as a psychology person, I've had to swallow my professional pride to admit that medicine outperforms psychological interventions for inattentiveness and hyperactivity). I agree is it overused (which is a testimony to it's effectivness) and I don't support that. The point is, the negativity the culture feels about this is not based upon any concrete negative effects and originates from Scientology. There are rare, dramatic negative effects, and they are temporary and any competent physician would discontinue the meds. But when this happens, Scientologists make sure these rare cases get publicized to create the impression that this is typical.

There are kids with hyperactivity that are a huge annoyance to their peers and therefore have no friends, they drive their parents, teachers, and coaches crazy, they're failing miserably in school, and they don't want to be that way. Yet their parents get on a high horse saying they don't want them to try medicine - all because of the controversy generated by those people you videotaped behind that iron fence!

That guy was definitely creepy. It seems like they either want the attention, or else they're doing some freaked out Eyes Wide shizzle that they don't want anyone to find out about.

Wow...that music really adds to the creep factor. Is it original, or from a library?
Were you using the on-camera mic? The audio was pretty good too.

Judging by this, I see the beginnings of an eye-opening Michael Moore-esque documentary...Go back with a crew!!

Hey - we better stop making fun of the Scientologist. Jarred may get upset....
I just found this photo deep in the DVXUser website::evil:
