The Dark Knight

Problem with killing off the Joker, you lose out on one of the most powerful stories in the Batman mythos- The Killing Joke. For those of you who are not a total geek, this is where the Joker gets his revenge on Batman by killing the second Robin. Joker has been around for what... like 70 years now? Way too much history, too many stories left to tell.

Thats understood but how many stories can you possibly tell before its a rehash? People will want something new. I can see 2 Joker films but not 3...plus we already know #3 will include Two Face...I would rather not have them make a movie with 2 villians again, if they do that I hope they do it right.

If your wondering how I know Two Face is in #3 its just a guess since he is in #2 but not AS Two Face just yet...as far as we know. I'm hoping they either reveal him at Two Face at the end of #2 or its appartent he will in #3...almost like they did for the Joker in Batman Begins.

We'll see I guess.

You can't base a whole series of movies on Just Batman and Joker, I'll give you that. But he is probably the best villain Batman has, and there are several stories that could be done if spaced apart properly. This would give Batman time to develop, bring in other characters, and then have ol' smiley back to create new chaos in Gotham.

Yeah, I've heard some rumours that two face makes an apperance in #2.

I dont know if it has been said, but I hope they dont kill him off in this, simply because I think it would be be bit much to see him die in real life just to go to his last film and see him die again. While I cant say if The Joker dying is good or bad for the story, I think it would be in bad taste to leave it in if he does die.

I cant even imagine being a family member wanting to see your beloved's last film just to see them die.

Not cool.

I remember early interviews prior to the first film with talk of making sure to keep closer to the comics and use the asylum, instead of killing off the bad guys.

Looks awesome! Aww man, I can't wait. German release date is August 21st! How crappy is that? And I want to watch it in english for gods sake, but in germany they translate every single movie. There is one theater that shows original versions, but it has got a crappy sound system :(

How come this thread didn't get bumped? This is one of the most anticipated films of 2008! I'm gonna go on opening day! Reviews have been pouring in and it seems this is even alot better then the first! Rollingstone gave it 3.5 stars out of 4 and IGN gave it 5 out of 5!

The American Cinematographer artice on The Dark Knight is fascinating. I can't wait to see what the sequences shot in IMAX look like, both in IMAX and on a standard screen. They describe working with IMAX stock at one point in the article as extremely wide shots with telephoto depth of field. Very interesting.

We'll just have to wait and see ZFarm. Some of the things I've seen from his Joker are truly great.

i'm not saying his performance is bad, but i can guarantee there wouldn't be any talk like that had Ledger not died. they're caught up in that fact and i hate to say it, but it's true.

I don't think the academy cares if the person is alive or dead. A stellar performance is a stellar performance IMO.

The academy DOES care if it's a comic book movie, though. Nomination: not likely.

He'll very likely get a nomination for Supporting Actor, unless the hype is overblown and his performance is mediocre. Jack Palance got an Academy award just for being old.

I'm not saying they aren't. But I would put money down that if Ledger were alive, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

His performance looks good. But Oscar caliber? Please.

Exactly.

I think they do. If they hear a bunch of chatter about something (IE, Ledger's performance being Oscar worthy) they're going to nominate him, not out of love of his performance, but for the publicity for it.

Again, MY OPINION
