GH2 The best external Monitor.

I have been searching for a solid external monitor for quite a while now for my gh2. I have been recommended the lilliputs mostly and then the more expensive marshalls, but I was wondering if anyone on this forum had any input? I want the best picture for the money, something I can attach to my camera but then also be able to watch and use it away from my camera. I would like to pay under $500...

Yes, go to the Manhatten website, they have some great offerings, and,,, ones that won't break the bank. In fact, they sell refurbished monitors much cheaper, they look brand new, carry a 90 day warranty. They also have good support.

I have used Ikan (utter crap) nothing but problems, more problems, and more:)....
Lilliput, better build than Ikan, but colors are off, no real way to properly calibrate the monitor.
Small hd are great, pisser resolution, but man, seems like they have a two year life cycle, I know several people, and have been reading about more, that have had their small dp's fail around this time span. If you upgrade every few years, then there you go. Their dp7 is really nice but out of your range, dp6 seems to have the issues.
Marshall, great monitor if you buy the higher end line, their entry level line are on par with lilliput.
manhatten, damn good monitor, haven't heard many people having issues, they calibrate nicely, good features.
Now of course there's much better than I listed, but their not cheap, and some run well over 2k, but for around 500.00, I would go manhatten.

If you do any outdoor shooting, the Zacuto EVF Pro is a great product. I do a lot of outdoor weddings and find that bright outdoor lighting makes my Marshall monitor difficult to see. The Zacuto has an eye cup which eliminates the problem of visibility in bright light.

I have a SmallHD DP4.
Great bit of kit.
The monitor may be a bit small for your liking (so maybe investigate the DP6), but it suits me.
I have the flip down viewfinder which is just brilliant when I'm handheld.

I have the Lilliput 8" monitor and love it. Spare batteries are available, each one lasts about half a day. The only drawbacks are no headphone jack, if you want to monitor audio from it & to replace the battery you will need a screwdriver to remove back casing over the battery.
Good lines of res on it, great for checking focus and color. Solid construction and usually includes a stand. I'd recommend it, especially for the money. But if you are looking to spend around $500 I'm sure you could do better.

The lilliput interests me. 8 inches would be great for focusing, I am just worried about the color. I have heard that lilliputs don't put out the most accurate color but I would like to hear other opinions...

And as far as the Zucato, you couldn't use that away from the camera right? How does it work with the GH2 lcd screeN?

Yes, that is the site, It seems your interested in the 8.9". They have been listing some of their refurbs on ebay, I picked up a second 8.9 for 250.00, It was 300.00 or best offer, I made my offer they accepted, was at my door 4 days later, and in brand new condition. In fact, If I didn't know it were a refurb, I would have thought it to be new. I can't say if all their refurbs are that way though.

Also, it can't hurt to call or email, and make an offer for a refurb, You never know till you ask. And yes the colors and exposure are pretty damn good.

Just checked ebay, they have a listing now.
