The best and fluid zoom lens

hi
i’m in preproduction of a film that i have to shoot with canon 7d/5d.
i'm not a big fan of zoom lens but for this film i need it.
the film is a lot handle with the use of remote focus and i have to use -during the shooting- the zoom ring.
wich zoom lens you can suggest me(not pl mount)?
the range i need is from 24mm to 100mm or more.
canon 24-105 or canon 24-70 could be ok but the zoom ring is stiff and the focus range of focus ring is small.
do you know same good manual focus lens?
or do you think the canon zoom are the best option in my case?
thanks

You also need a zoom that maintains focus as you zoom. Video lenses are designed to do this, photo lenses are not and the focus will change as the lens is zoomed. That means you also need to pull focus as you zoom which makes it even harder. For photos this is not a problem because the camera will focus for each frame, yet another reason people look down on DSLRs as not being proper video/film tools ;)

Well then you have a problem.

Like above poster explained. All the same "crap" if you wish... market isn't there yet (and unlikely it ever will). Or look at some of the vintage zooms, but don't have too high expectations on those. It really sounds like you need a PL setup, honestly.

try a gh13/2 with a b4 2/3 video zoom with duplicator and the proper adapter. you will have a 18-200 zomm with f:3.5.
in the 5d there is no option i believe, in the 7d tere could be a oct-19 mount that works with no camera mod.
if you whant to stay with the canon check this out http://rafcamera.com/fast-35mm-zoom-lens-35opfp11-anamorphic-ready-p-831.html
I don´t know if it fits but a oct-19 has a larger focal flange than the pl mount.
tho the b4 with m43 is a better option for zooming
