The Amazing Spider-man

Kinda like the sequence from Raimi's Spider-man 1 that had Spidey catching a helicopter full of bank robbers in a giant web spun between the twin towers.

That was going to be in the movie when they shot it...Then 9/11 happened so they cut it. It wasn't made just for the film, it was going to be part of Spidey's first do-good montage.

To be fair, the author of that video synced it all up to make it like the trailer, the only similarities in the actual game and trailer seem to be the fact that you can jump around on rooftops which look quite industrial, and then it is cleverly cut together to sort of match it. I didn't read it properly the first time and I thought that was the actual game trailer, not some guys edit. (For some reason a lot of people think that is the actual trailer or segment from the game shot for shot).
OK , but its the same camera movement frame for frame ..not the hanging on the heli, the environment just differ and the hero in the game is a girl who has put her pms to great use :)

It's way too soon to revisit this story. Definitely looks less bright and more of a darker side to the story which I find intriguing, but for the same reason it won't have as much charm. Not impressed at all with the final sequence of the trailer where SpiderMan swings through the city. Reminds me of a cheap 4D ride at a local amusement park with plastic looking 3D animation and camera movement that resembles a video game rather than eyes sitting on the head of a shoulder.

I did not enjoy watching that at all... nothing to say. Not doing this one maybe on a dvd in a few years. It seemed so forced and waaaaaay too serious but not really... no I really didn't like this.

I'll still see it. Curious to see how it turns out, regardless of the ridiculous ending to the trailer.

I'm hoping this is the Spiderman we were supposed to get.

1) Mary Jane should not exist. The origin story featured Gwen Stacy, who dies by the hand of the original green goblin. She is tossed from the Brooklyn Bridge and Despite spiderman saving her, she dies. That is sooooo important to spidey's character. He doesn't get the girl. I'm excited to see that it appears Mary Jane won't be a central character and the Stacy's (Gwen and her Police Capt. Father) are in the story.

Also, happy to see The Lizard/DrConnor will be in the script. That is exciting.

I'm giving this reboot a chance, because I feel like the 1st spiderman wasn't true to itself, despite being fairly good.

Now they need to reboot Venom/Brock. Brock should be larger in stature and not a puss that Topher Grace was. It needs to be darker and more evil... not emo and strange, like symbiotic-costume spiderman was. The symbiotic black-costume is more like a drug addiction, not a 14 year old going through his 'The Cure' phase.

I'm sorry but with the exception of SpideyII, the franchise was pretty weak... I only liked two, because DocOc was amazing.\

I'm excited for the new one... however I doubt I will like it.

My biggest fear right now is the horrible 1st person perspective of spidey.... seems like a 3D gimmick. I don't feel I'm watching a film when I see it... I feel like I'm on a Universal City 3D adventure ride. Ugh.

I agree that it's way too soon to revisit this. It's like Hollywood has seen the success of films that deal with teenagers in HS, like "Twilight" and they're like, "Oh, let's do that." I grew up reading the comic books, so I know all about Spidey and despite my concerns about Tobey, they did a great job with the franchise and I thought the films just got better and better and stayed true to Spidey. SII probably was the best of the three though.

Hollywood is just going nuts with all the super-hero films and I guess one of the studios wanted to cash in some more. The trailer to me is weak. It's like, hey, I've seen this all before. It's the same, just with a different person getting bit by the spider. Oh wait, we get to see the new guy learn his powers all over again. Yeah, can't wait.

I was a little perturbed when I heard of this reboot, since it seemed too soon, but I have to say:

a) Marc Webb. I liked 500 Days of Summer and think he will do a good job with this film.
b) I think Garfield has a good look for Parker
c) Mechanical web shooters ('nuff said)
d) I like the costume slightly better here than in Raimi's
e) Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben

I'm not sure about the whole "Peter losing his family" at the beginning of the trailer. That seems to add a element to the film that won't need to be there, but I withhold judgment until it comes out.

There's also nothing about the villain, and I think the movie is going to hinge on that. Spider-Man 2 is such a great film BECAUSE Spidey was given his most classic villain to battle, and it was superbly cast and conceptualized. We saw nothing of the baddie in the trailer, so that gives me pause.

Meh.

Saw a longer trailer for this twice this weekend and just don't understand the need to do this story again. It's like Hulk for me - except worse, because I didn't think the McGuire franchise was bad. At least Hulk sucked consistently in its last two outtings.

I am far more excited to see Tin-Tin finally arriving and the prospects for Avengers, which looks like it fits right into the Iron Man and Captain America universe. This reboot business model borders on episodic television, where directors all get a swing at their version of a certain franchise.

My understanding is this...

- Rami did not want to do any more Spiderman movies if the Sony was going to interfere like they did with Spiderman III
- Sony wanted Rami gone ( who needs amazing talent when you can dish out crap-tastic reboots at a cheaper price )
- Much like all those horrible remakes, rebooting is a sure bet to make money without having to take on the risk of doing something original

This is why I would rather see an Indy film than most of the pap coming out of Hollywood. ( though I did like Captain America a lot more than I thought I would )

Sony HAD to do something with the franchise or they would lose their rights to it, and Raimi's 3rd film was an abysmal flop that left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

This film has a lot going for it, including everything that Gary Huff said there's also the casting of Emma Stone; the villain being Lizard; the fact that many action sequences were filmed practically; and the fact that it is filmed on a new Red Epic and is being described as the most beautiful footage from a Red ever seen.

It may have left a bad taste in some people's mouths, but it certainly wasn't a financial flop.

Sorry. This doesn't excite me one bit. Technically, it looks great, but there's no getting over it being another Spider-Man movie and another superhero movie. One of the many things that sucks about getting old is that tv, movies, music and life in general become one giant re-run, and things like this just amplify that sensation.

The trailer had some nice stuff in it, but it's missing that build up that I like to see to get me excited. Lots of weird moments in the trailer that slowed the pace down and then they tried to speed it back up again. Didn't do it for me. Looks decent though. CG looks OK, not fantastic but good in a comic book kind of way. ;)

This is the spiderman we originally deserved. Not a fan of his parents story line, no matter which thread you consider the real parents back-story.

YEEEESSSS.

GwenStacy! Lizard! Classic Spidey! Artificial web slingers and all.

Just one question... did they leave out the Goblin? I expected to see Green Goblin and SPOILER ALERT the end finale scene being on the Brooklyn Bridge where Gwen dies and spider-man makes the final transition into his new role in the world. That was the moment he solidified as Spiderman.
