Hey guys,
I shot a short with the A1 and the PS technik last weekend. I'm having a hell of a time to capture the footage using final cut. It seems I have to use the camera as a vcr deck to capture the footy, anyone else have this problem? And final cut hardley recognizes the camera too... Thanks guys.

Just curious here... how else would you capture the footage if you recorded to tape?

Why is it a problem to use the cam as the playback deck? (other than that it wears out the heads)

You have to use the A1 or the HV20 as a deck to capture your footage from tape.

What version of Final Cut are you using?

For A1 + Final Cut Pro you need:

A1 or HV20 as deck
FCP 5.1 or higher
at least 1.5Ghz
at least 1.5gigs of ram

Set your Audio/Video presets for HDV, probably 1080i24
Set your capture devices as HDV

Actually, you need FCP 5.1.2 or higher to have native HDV 24F support. Update to the latest version, 5.1.4 and you should be fine.
