I had a fantastic time today in Bootcamp and it was great meeting you all.

I've learned a lot about my camera today and look forward to practicing the the techniques I've learned.

I wish I never stuck my head in that room with the greenscreen, though!!! Now there's something else I want to buy.

Perhaps we'll see you all at NAB!

Cheers,

Mike, thanks for coming in. It was great seeing you and the other guys again. :)

It was definitely an action packed day! Great 720p footage blown up on a 10' screen via DLP! Direct-to-disk test shoot! Final Cut workflow! We even got a little pre-NAB vendor preview. :) (Heck, Big Mike even "took out" a chair! ;) )

All in all, I learned much more about the camera than I knew before I walked in the door, and that makes the day worth my time. I hope others had a similar experience.

For those of you that couldn't make it: if the Bootcamp comes anywhere NEAR where you live, and you're an HVX owner, or are looking into it, you owe it to yourself to do what it takes to get there!

Good times!

Agreed, the HVX bootcamp just plain out rocked and was well worth it!
HUZZAH TO THE BOOTCAMP!!!
:)

Ah now I see! Hi Cuantos! :)

Hey, I had a great time, and learned a lot. It was also great to put some faces to names. BUT....I forgot to my t-shirt!!! Ugh, that's a badge of honor, so I have to work out a way to get ahold of one from Jarred!

Thanks so much to everyone who attended, and it was awesome to be able to meet so many of you, and to see the destruction of a chair firsthand -- that totally ruled!

I feel very lucky to have had this experience and I feel sorry for those that don't have a bootcamp scheduled in their area. It was very very informative and I feel like I have a much better understanding of the in's and out's of the cam and workflow. Great stuff guys and thanks!

...Come on! It was a breakaway chair. Right? Where was the camera?

I almost wish someone got it on film.

Yes thank you everyone for coming.. It was a blast and we all learned a little something... :)

Thanks very much as well. Very informative and everyone was very helpful. If you guys need anything when you get to NY, let me know. Be well,

Totally thanks for coming and glad to hear it was fun and informative. I learned a ton myself!

Had a good time and learned a lot, could easily be a two day event.
Evin, your recording setup to the Weibetech RAID 5 unit, have you had a drive fail yet? Was wondering how much the RAID would slow if a drive was down and how long would it take to rebuild. Do you carry a spare drive to shoots?

Peter Kagan mention about having a 32" Panasonic plasma display for the clients on his Subway shoot and how much it helped give the clients confidence. Which display was he using? Was it a professional or a consumer model. I would like to get something like it for use on-set and then back in the edit bay later. I looked online at 32" Panasonic plasmas and there aren't that many and some of those look kind of low end.

Evin, do you use a light meter on-set? Is that a valuable tool for getting the best picture with the HVX?

Among the brochure given out were a couple items from DSC Labs and their Alignment charts. The Bootcamp crew was also using a color chip chart. It would be great in future Bootcamps to discuss the use of charts on set and how they might help to more deliberately craft a shot.

Wow, I had a great time on Saturday with all you guys - thanks!

So, until NAB . . .

I second the greenscreen comment, I'm completely hooked.

Big thanks to Rush for staying late for a 3 person class and answering questions until they kicked us out. Rush you rule! (and let us know when your dvds are available)

You're welcome tuface, I sure will let you know. Site will be up in a couple days, and I will post it here.

Cuantos that's sound like a great idea, just make sure you install sliding filter holders :)
