Moving on to a different platform. You served us well (and our clients loved you). We'll be back when your all grown up with 4:2:2, P2 capable and you've had a heart transplant with your cousins sensor.
See ya'll in the cut-aways!

Oh my god I'm so glad you told us!
In other news- I'm about to open a can of soup... goodbye hunger!

Seriously though, good luck with your new format. It seems most clients love properly shot AF footage (until they learn the camera used was an AF100- then they remember something they read somewhere...)

LOL I hunger for a Super35 sensor…cheers!

Grass is always greener.

Have to agree. I was considering selling my AF102 for a while but figured id stick with it as the cost of replacing it was much higher.

Anyway been shooting a show for Shine on the Sony F3 and after using that for a few weeks I am so glad I didn't sell the AF102, the difference is a Bee's dick really. Unless you can step up to Alexa territory you really aren't going to get much of a benefit in the real world.

Lots to like with the F3 except how much it cost. I enjoyed using it on a few shoots at night. That camera see’s in the dark.
If you look back when the AF-100 came out the choices where slim. Either a DSLR or a camcorder. So much has changed and we have a lot of cameras to choose from. I still think the AF-100 has some life in her but others with the means to move forward should. I would buy another camera if I could justify doing so but the camera I want I can’t afford. No big deal. In six months I’m sure I can get a good deal on a used version that sat on the shelf unused.
I tip my hat to John because he didn’t bad mouth the AF-100 on his way out and he’s been a guy around here.
Enjoy that S35 sensor!

Thanks E,
Like I mentioned…the camera served me well (and my clients) and I will certainly miss the Voigtlander. The love affair was over and now its time to bed a different mistress.

See ya in the cut-aways!

+1

If John is moving into the F3 price bracket (I'm guessing... so what platform are you moving to, inquiring minds want to know?), and it makes business sense for him to do so, I don't see what the big deal is.

Not with SLOG it isn't.

I wasn't saying in John's case the sensor size is why he is moving, but I've heard others that own AF100's moving to the F3 just because they can't stand the m4/3 and want the field of view associated with S35. Makes me scratch my head. The only thing I would upgrade for is the highlight clipping, and well, I can live with it on the AF100. All in all a great little package for the price!
