Test shots.

Robbie Comeau

Como's back. back again
Im planning on writing a new horror, about a carpenter who kills people in his work shop.

Im still trying to figure out a plot and what not on why he does this, and other things in the story.

Here are some shots that I went and did for some tests, for the feel of the short. I like this CC also.

Thanks.

Also, here is a new image I grabbed. It will be for my next short film, and I think I will use the CC involved...

The still shots are much better than the panning ones, use some of those/repeat the shot for when you're in production

That's what I am planning on doing.

And it's because I shot 1/120 shutter, using a 24pA frame rate. The jitter horrified me, I won't use those don't worry :)

The focus looks really sharp. What settings did you use for, say, the fluorescent lights box shot? Everything I shoot looks slightly soft...almost out of focus. I just bought the camera, so maybe I'm missing something, but if I could try your settings with my camera, maybe I could compare.

Thanks...

Box shot? Huh?

Just zoom in and focus, and then zoom out and you're bound to have a good focus.

My settings:

MASTER PED : -15 (I know...Just testing it out.)
DETAIL ELVEL: -4
B.PRESS
GAMMA: CINELIKE

Robbie,

Thanks! I went to school for tv/film more than a couple years ago, so I know the basics. My quandary comes form the specifics of this camera. I guess I just need to mess around with it under different lighting set-ups. I'm just worried about adding hours to the meter (resale value and such).

Again, thanks, and keep shooting!

Lloyd

Steve,

Hey there. I just watched your "Crime Scene Skit" and was impressed. Is there a secret to quick panning, or did you shoot it in 60i then film-look it in post? Can you tell I'm still new to this whole 24p thing? ;)

Thanks,
Lloyd

Shoot 24p.

Here is a new still, for the intro to my next film. Script is banged out, and the story board and actors are still yet to be cast. I have a location, with all the props ready to go!

Man, you got some really nice images there. The lighting and CC'ing is superb, really caught my eye. Without going into too much detail, what did you do for CC?
Great work!

-15 MASTER PED on my camera.

Crushed MORE blacks in Final Cut.

I just used the lighting that I had in the garage, which was a lot, seeing I was at 1/48, 4.8 iris.

I just added a Richer effect. (http://pistolerapost.com/pluginz/index.html)
And in the 3-way color corrector, I desaturated it a bit.

I added one more effect but I forget what it was!

Thanks for looking.

Good pictures, but i feel the location really makes this one. I assume you just went with the ambient lighting? The cc was nice though, but i'm most enamored by the location. That's eerie-tastic!

It's my dads work shop. he's a carpenter, so he's got all the tools and what not for the location. I thought of this, and that's when I got Alex Whitmer to bang out a script!
