Test footage - with Brevis

Are you saying you need it for the 'flip' issue or for focus?

For both, definitely. There's no way around the 'flip' issue right now without using an video tap. Despite using the Letus Flip Enhanced adapter, Steven Dempsey has a Marshall and I'm fairly sure he uses it for focus purposes.

Also did you have a reason for picking the Brevis over the Letus or other adapters?

Good question, I'll cut and paste what I said recently on DVInfo:

"As for the adapters, I've only used the Brevis because I like its design, the fact that it's modular, and that it loses less light than its competitors. If I were to buy a different one, it would be the SGPro. More particularly, if I lived in the UK, I'd look very strongly at the SGPro, but so far, I love the Brevis.

The biggest difference among adapters is probably regarding light loss. The Brevis typically loses a full stop less light than the other adapters.

The SGpro was my second favorite adapter for the following reasons: edge to edge sharpness and diffusion. Simply put, images I saw coming from the SGpro were excellent. However, I've seen great images from the Brevis and Letus, too. My decision came down to craftsmanship, light loss, and the modular nature of the Brevis. All that and it produces great images."

I'll add that form factor was also important to me and I love carbon fiber, so from an aesthetics perspective, the Brevis was at the very top of my list...everything else was a distant 2nd.

By the way, there will be an end to these seemingly endless questions. I am going to EVS tomorrow to look at some setups. As soon as I grab a camera (most likely the A1) I will be happy to post videos of my girlfriend too.

No problem, I'm glad I can be helpful. These forums have been immensely helpful to me.

Hello

Have you shot any interior / lower light stuff with your Brevis? How did it look? I keep hearing I will need massive lighting with the a 35mm adaptor but I was planning on just buying LED lights for most of my interviews. I am worried they wont be enough even with fast lenses. What do you think?

I've messed around in my living room many times with component out going to my 40" Samsung LCD and it looks awesome. So if I can get great results with practical lighting, then I think I'll be just fine.

As to the question at hand, I haven't shot any official test footage of interiors, but that's coming very soon.

I'll definitely post my results here.

Hey. It's me with yet another question. (That's what you get for being so darn helpful).

I color corrected both of the videos you posted and was really happy with the results. In almost every case, I had to warm up the pictures by lessening the green tint. Also, in the fields, I had to drop the black to add some contrast and lessen the washed out look. Again, final stuff looked great.

Question: Do you get the same greenish washed out effect when shooting in other (non green) environments? Also, does it happen with and without the Brevis?

I almost bought this thing yesterday. I am still really agonizing over it. Ultimately, if I can get a great look with color correction, that's ok, I was just wondering what your experience was as an owner.

Thanks, as always.
