1) What's your real name? Where are you from? How old are you (or if you want just an age range)?

Scott Frosch Norwalk, Connecticut 37

2) Why filmmaking? (keep it short)

Does it have to be filmmaking? I primarily make commercials, and the occasional music video. But I turn to DVXuser for technical info (and to talk s*&t in the "off topic" section) RE: film making, it took me forever just to cut a phony trailer, let alone a short or feature. I'll leave that to you professionals.

3) How many shorts have you made? How many Features/Series have you made?

Not many. I started off making commercials in 1999, and quite honestly that is what I am most comfortable with. I like trying to tell the story in thirty seconds. (And get paid for my efforts)

Commercial producer for an unnamed cable corporation in the tri-state area. The occasional freelance gig keeps me busy on the side.

5) Describe your personality a bit, one good thing, one flaw. (keep it simple)

I'm pretty mellow, hopefully more so as I get older.
Flaw? Very "me" motivated (hence talking about myself on a message board)

6) Other Hobbies/Interests aside form filmmaking?

I love skateboarding, especially concrete parks. I think I enjoy skating more now at 37 than I did at 17. Free time is a luxury for me right now, so I appreciate any opportunity I can break away from work and do a few grinds at the local park.

1) What's your real name? Where are you from? How old are you (or if you want just an age range)? Zachary Ryan Block or just Zack. 25

2) Why filmmaking? (keep it short) I have many different interests and hobbies but I've always been drawn to filmmaking and music. I first surprised myself after writing a short film and then having to shoot it myself. I got almost to the frame, the exact look I was going for. Years and years later I started doing motorcycle stunt work for films and soon after started acting. When the industry slowed down I started preparing to make my own films so I could act without waiting on someone else to cast me.

3) How many shorts have you made? How many Features/Series have you made?
I've made three short films, two music videos, two documentaries and am working on pre-production for my first feature. I've worked with friends on a ton of films.

4) What's your current paid job (or jobs)?
Currently I'm recovering from a work related accident. (A tree fell on me. Go ahead and ask) So I'm working towards my productions and learning more about filmmaking. Before that I was acting full time (or rather part time) and before that I traveled the world building Earth Station Antenna systems and worked seasonally as a wilderness guide at a drug treatment facility.

5) Describe your personality a bit, one good thing, one flaw. (keep it simple)
I'm a chameleon. I can fit in with any group and make friends and get the job done. That kinda sucks when you don't really know who your are at the end of the day.

Music (I sing and play guitar) basketball, motorcycles, wakeboarding, camping, guns, Kavadba (my side project www.kavadba.com) and people

- I work as an electrician both in feature films (when I can) and shorts (this doesn't pay much)
- I also work as a lighting designer and technician in theater plays and concerts ( I love when the adrenaline flows thorough your veins when you are about to hit the cue...)
- All around production guy for my town council, from laying chairs for events to security guy in concerts...
- And this one is just a personal favor to one of my mums friends, I work in a school bus taking care of children... that can be more stressful than all my other jobs together...

5) Describe your personality a bit, one good thing, one flaw. (keep it simple)

they say that I'm diplomatic.... and bad things.... maybe too hard working... I don't know I work too much... But that can also be good sometimes given the times we are now.

5) Describe your personality a bit, one good thing, one flaw. (keep it simple)

I'm laid back for sure and easy to get along with - very social. However, I also tend to be very stubborn (but never really on set).

6) Other Hobbies/Interests aside form filmmaking?

I enjoy photography, tinkering with computers, working out and outdoor-sy stuff.

I attended Juilliard... I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through the Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen the EXORCIST ABOUT A HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN TIMES, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT!

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

Here I am.

1) What's your real name? Where are you from? How old are you (or if you want just an age range)?

Charli, originally from Texas, very Southern-styled, 46 but no one I meet believes me, I don't look nor act my age.

2) Why filmmaking? (keep it short)

Back in the 80s when I had a hi-8 Sony camera (dinasour) I made two home movies. One was about 3 boys from Mexico and how they live here in America to show their families - 150 people attended a showing and they all cried throughout the film.

Second one was for my husband's secretary's daugther, her 14th birthday party, I had only 40 minutes of footage but turned it into a movie by splicing scenes from movies like "Little Mermaide" to little snippets of "Abbott & Costello." It was seen by their family and friends and the reaction was incredible.

I didn't choose filmmmaking, it just chose me.

3) How many shorts have you made? How many Features/Series have you made?

Two produced, two in perpetual post production, countless shorts I've wrtten. Three features written, two features in drafting stages.

4) What's your current paid job (or jobs)?

Unemployed currently. Worked as hotel manager for over ten years until I contracted Graves Disease, an auto immune disorder. Can't work right now, so I write.

5) Describe your personality a bit, one good thing, one flaw. (keep it simple)

A "character" - I love people and love to get people to enjoy that moment with me, I'm crazy.

Opinionated - working in hotel I'm able to 'read' people's motives, agendas, characters, and that turns me off to them and they to me.

6) Other Hobbies/Interests aside form filmmaking?

Webchats on Facebook, Arcade games especially "Virtual Cop", sports when I'm well.

Anthony, From Los Angeles but I bounce around, The day I was born, Cuckoo's Nest was number one in the box office. 34.

2) Why filmmaking? (keep it short)
A more experienced friend of mine (Andy Signore), told me he didn't think I could pull off making a feature. It ticked me off, so I have been teaching myself every process, the best I can, in hopes to eventually rub it in his face. That, and I love movies.

3) How many shorts have you made? How many Features/Series have you made?
I abandoned the first short I started, have one music video under my belt, I have written about a dozen shorts from 6 pagers to 30 pagers. Currently, I am almost finished writing my very first feature.

4) What's your current paid job (or jobs)?
Web/graphic designer and consultant.

5) Describe your personality a bit, one good thing, one flaw. (keep it simple)
Thorough, but I can get a little Howard Hughes every once and a while.

6) Other Hobbies/Interests aside from filmmaking?

1) What's your real name? Where are you from? How old are you (or if you want just an age range)?
Rakesh Jacob although people seem to like my old DVXUSER nick Johnny Cola.
Born in Surat India, raised and live in Houston, TX but it hasn't affected me adversely, in other words, Democrats are too right wing for me LOL.
I'm older than Chris Brown but younger than R. Kelly but I've never hit or pissed on a woman (or man for that matter)

2) Why filmmaking? (keep it short)
Dropped out of the medical field (wanted to be a Trauma Surgeon) to become a full time music producer. Basically got bored and wanted something more challenging and decided that becoming an Auter type of filmmaker was the best fit for me.

3) How many shorts have you made? How many Features/Series have you made?
Only a couple shorts and a couple features but have allready started winning awards so hopefully it means I'm on the right track...

4) What's your current paid job (or jobs)?
Filmmaker (sometimes), the rest I leave up to the Universe

5) Describe your personality a bit, one good thing, one flaw. (keep it simple)
My flaws are my greatest assets: OCD, insecure, overly critical yet easily pleased, way too egalatarian

6) Other Hobbies/Interests aside form filmmaking?
Building fun things (computers, hot rods, whatever...), ancient religions and modern politics (guess they are kind of the same thing)

I detoured and became a Resp Therapist just before I finished my undergrad to put my self through subsequent Med School. I started in the NICU and then moved to the Pedi ICU, which I loved! The Attendings and Fellows were writting me letters of recommendation and wanted me to get my MD cause I was more competant than most of thier Residents.
I went through major personal shi*, got burnt out from my grossly overloaded assignments and came out on the other side just wanting to drop off the grid and be an artist so I persued my music instead... I still wanna go back to school but I'm too lazy to deal with all the History, English, Math, Chem etc... If only there were a vocational school for surgeons, you know like Truck Driving or Beauty College LOL :)
Probably best there isn't though

Interesting thread!

1) What's your real name? Where are you from? How old are you (or if you want just an age range)?

My name is Simon Höfer and I am from Germany. I am 25 years old (1984).

2) Why filmmaking? (keep it short)

Actually I don't know really why. At some point I just bought a small handycam and started playing with it. Quite late actually, maybe I was 20. As many people I was then surfing the web for the filmlook :D Found out about 24p and finally found DVXuser. In Japan I then bought an HVX200 and things shaped up. Came back to Germany and made two shorts and some first paid projects.

3) How many shorts have you made? How many Features/Series have you made?

Made 2 short films for past DVX fests. Besides that only commercial projects.

4) What's your current paid job (or jobs)?

I study electrical engineering and am writing my diploma thesis right now. For this purpose I stayed at a German testing company based in Hong Kong for the last 5 months. Actually going back to germany tomorrow :) I developed the test programms for flat panel display TVs.

Back in Germany I've got a small video production company with a partner. After graduation that will be fulltime.

5) Describe your personality a bit, one good thing, one flaw. (keep it simple)

I am honest. I am often too stubborn.

6) Other Hobbies/Interests aside form filmmaking?

Got a very nice girlfriend :) I like doing sports like parkour. I love music. Meeting friends is important. And I love going to other countries. I lived 2 months on the Philippines, I lived for 6 months in Japan and for 5 months now in Hong Kong. And I visited several other european countries like, Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Denmark, England, Spain etc.

I'll keep it short. My name is Ousa and I like making movies. My current feature is Red Herring. Once that is done, Kungfused is next on my to do list. Thank you for your time.
