Telephoto For Hvx?

As far as using a tele-lens that DIRECTLY MOUNTS to the HVX, i have only come across the HD-16TC-HVX, has anybody had experience with this converter, pros and cons? Are there any other tele's that directly mount to the HVX lens? Thanks guys.

I've got the Century Optics 1.6 and it's surprisingly good. Much more usable on the HVX than it was on the DVX, I guess the larger lens diameter lets it avoid vignetting further into the zoom range so you can actually zoom out a little bit with it. Edge-to-edge sharpness seems very good, and not much if any discernible light loss.

It's the only teleconverter I know of that works with the HVX. It's only 1.6x so it's not tremendously more telephoto but it works very well for its 1.6x range.

Can these tele lenses be used to increase DOF. I know a longer lens has greater depth of field, but wonderd if anyone has tried using these for the purpose of more DOF. If it is a zoom through lens, it seems as though you could still use it for regular use and when you need a shallow DOF as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you don't want to INCREASE DOF, but decrease it, don't you?

That is if you are looking to a focused subject and a blurred background.

YES, That is correct ... Decrease DOF.
