Telecine House LA Recommendations

Hello,

I worked on a mixed 35mm/varicam/HVX job last week and was curious if anyone could recommend a good telecine house that really has their head around the whole digital workflow/pipline and has an eye for color.

Thanks,

Rob

It's not so much which company you choose, but which colorist. A very good colorist can be very expensive. For mixed media and up-res work+ digital intermediate I would recomend E film... Match frame digital would also be a good choice. for film to tape telecine I would go with company 3.

Thanks guys,

The producer made it easy and picked Post Logic in LA. I've talked to them and they have a really good handle on what we want to do on the digital end.

I just did a 35mm to HD telecine at Matchframe 2 weeks ago. That place is great and i got an amazing deal. Went to the Syndicate before, and honestly Matchframe was just as good, if not better because of their great rates and great colorist. Whats even better, I was able to get a direct to disk capture from my D5 tape to DVCPRO HD for way below what most other transfer places would charge. In fact most telecine places dont even offer the video capture to disk service forcing you to go to a place like Lightning Dubs that is way overpriced.
