TEEN COP 004K: The Girl Who Loved Money
teaser trailer

My first actual 4K project! Pretty exciting. Still learning a ton, struggling with formats, this teaser does nothing more than to let the hordes know I'm working on Teen Cop 4

that was great. Filming was very nice, what lens did you use? Editing was solid, good music, good graphics, felt like a real movie trailer... almost lol

Haha, I enjoyed the first three. This already looks like another evolution in your skills. I love how even your ZDG logo recalls HK and Taiwanese action films. Will 'the leg' be reprising it's role? :)

hahahh thanks guys!

PegLeg Lens: Canon 50mm 1.4 mostly on that Zyongi Lens Turbo - had it too open so it is softy and frindgy, also the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 for the wider shots

John: I'm on it! Thanks for the interest!

Egg: I didn't know about HK action film logos. :) Based mine on MGM colors. A friend made the logo as a temp for me and it just sort of stuck. The leg just MIGHT be back and joined by an arm or three :D

i have the canon 50mm 1.4 but ive never heard of the Zyongi Lens Turbo mount, what all does it do? is it worth the $108? the lens only cost me $45

lens turbo or focal reducer is a "speed booster" clone. Optics probably are not as good, and no apeture control, but it widens the lens back out a bit and adds a stop of light (compressing light photons or some stuff - but it does work) but it exists NOW and is 1/5 the price of speedbooster.
It works, I like it and kinda recommend it. So, one benefit of it is... lets say for my night scene I used my 50mm on GH4. I THEENK the crop makes that lens a 100mm? x2 ? Also that lens is not as sharp at 1.4 as it is at 2.8 or f4 and soft/fuzzy*. So, I can set lens at 2.8 (less fuzz, sharper), use the lens turbo and it widens back out a bit, and ALSO adds a stop of light (approx) back down to 1.8

It's a cheaper version that does the same thing as the metabones speed booster. It allows the use of 35mm format lenses on MFT cameras making the field of view wider and the speed ~1 stop faster.

EDIT: Too late, what wwjd said. ^

this was my very first test of using the GH4 for something, using the lens turbo AND shooting at night. So, I learned a lot, and think I can get it dialed in to look better. This episode will be shot all at dusk and then black of night to learn to do that better.

The backgrounds look gorgeous on that camera, much more live than the muddy blur it turns to in 720p. I've just adopted a mistress in my BMPCC and with each passing day I'm looking at my HVX looking for the right time to break up.

can't you just use both?? :D who knows? they might even get along. won't until until you bring it up to them. and you will be the envy of all your friends

The HVX was my first camera that was beyond a tool but a true love. A well thought out, complete package with buckets of mojo. What not to love? She will always have a place in my heart and I won't be getting rid of her. She's still the better option for the workhorse stuff, filming presentations and product demos at work (two years of dropping hints finally paying off - get to shoot videos two days a month  edit on my own time :(). As for b-camming her...at the price another BMPCC is the perfect b-cam.

I met my GH2 in a dark bar but never developed feelings for her. I've seen amazing results but could never get too excited about the painful process of digging into her guts to find them for myself. Too fiddly, buttons too small and crowded, menu hell. Only ever really used for stills. Might have found that love if I didn't have the HVX's well thought out complete solution to compare to but I never really gave her a chance to show me her goods.

The pocket however dropped unexpectedly into my life and took my breath away. :love4: She makes me want to put in the extra effort. Currently in the process of dressing her up, only waiting for the external power source to arrive and still in the process of selecting rig hardware. Basically treating her like a yesteryear 16mm indie camera concept, dedicated to short film. Good timing since I finally have a local network to take advantage of. She makes me work for it and for the time being she's got me really excited about the whole process again.

The first real project will be the test though. I think I'm too late for tropfest, my idea takes too much organising...need a shopping centre and a robot (who doesn't). Hoping to be able to organise something for the upcoming dvxfest. I have a writer waiting for the genre/rules, crew and actors waiting in the wings. Just waiting on the announcement.

This interests me a lot! I love filming interviews with that lens, even in 4k shooting at 2.8 i get very sharp results. I compared it to my olympus 45mm 1.8 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EC4HxfZPbs&hd=1

I don't want a wider field of view, i think 50mm on a GH3/4 is great for talking heads, i prefer the field of view to m4/3 lenses over full frame cameras. you can't get a shallow depth of field with anything much shorter. An extra stop of light would be well worth the $100 bucks. Do they have anything like this for m4/3 lenses? Id love to trade manual focus for lower light and shallow depth of field.

egg: that pocket is amazing! enjoy your new love. GREAT Dynamic Range too

Pegleg: not sure, but there are many different versions, styles, brands out there. I'm no expert in these things, but there is one called RJ LENS also

maybe this?

I can't garantee quality so google reviews first. METABONES glass is cleaner in everything I have read if that is important to you. But it costs

TONS of footage at this point, but not posting any real spoilers of any of it. And it is ALL looking GREAT!

Here's a shoot I did last night: The "TEEN COP GIRLS" dancing for the intro titles sequence. Went perfect, going to edit in PERFECT!
Lower right is a quick test example... a lot of things to add, but it will work exactly as I hoped!

Looking good! Even from just this I can tell you're really stepping up the production value on this one. But then a new camera demands such.
